Teams like Liverpool and Man City recall their players that are not starting. In fact Liverpool have today from Fleetwood. The player won't ever make it at Liverpool but clearly they look after their players and don't want to ruin their career.
Austin needs to go back to Wolves for his own good.
As for us we need to get rid of Guthrie, send Austin back if Wolves don't demand his return then sign proven forwards that are known to score goals.
I don't think we will go down but we need to understand our situation. Currently we have to many inexperienced in our ranks on and off the pitch which could lead to trouble if we don't pull away from this dogfight at the bottom.

Patrick is becoming a bit of a hero at Carlisle, oh and a certain Riley chipped in with an assist to put them top of the league, Fordy, you lambast French almost as often as you wax lyrical about the bin dippers, yet forget his age this is his first full season as a pro....Christ cut him some slack. Why would sending Samuel’s back help his career??
Do you think he’ll have more chance of making the first 11 at Wolves?
Maybe you think his confidence will take a boost if he fails at a lower half 4th division outfit?
We don’t know how he performs in training, we don’t know if we have an option to sign at the end of the season, we don’t know how much we’re contributing to his wage.Wolfysmith, Bronco, Briggus and 1 other person like this. -

I mean, I get this argument if you're a Premier League team and you can get a good £8 million for a star player - by all means you pretty much HAVE to sell - but why would we read from the Premier League transfer playbook when it bears no relevance to what will actually happen at VP? What are we going to get for Wood right now, £50k?
I think I'd rather have Wood for 5 months of a pretty damn important relegation battle than £50k and a weaker left back position.Lancashire Bantam, baggers, Petrov and 1 other person like this. -

I wouldn't sell at all, he's tied into a lengthy contract so why should we? It's not as if we can put it back into the budget with the cap either.

Would I take McAnthony over any of the previous recent or current incumbents of the club?

If Peterborough are run in such a progressive and exciting manner by McAnthony, then why are they ‘stalling’ as a club?
Since 2004 they have had three seasons in the Championship. What is conveniently ’airbrushed’ is that they have also had three seasons in League Two!
Their average attendances are very poor!
There are no ‘major clubs close by. Leicester City are over 40 miles away and have only recently become a major player.
There is a massive catchment area, with no League alternatives, closer than Leicester. The population of Peterborough is over 200,000, with the total population of Cambridgeshire 855,000 https://cambridgeshireinsight.org.uk/population/report/view/9eb28cf5b5d045d28eeabce7819ba4f6/E47000008/
Add onto that North and West Norfolk, South Lincolnshire, Rutland, and East Northamptonshire and the figure is well over 1,000,000.
Compare that to Bradford, who in the recent 10 years have had 8 Premiership clubs within 40 miles, a professional Rugby League side in the City, then why hasn’t Peterborough done wonders?
A comparison between Peterborough and clubs like Southampton, Bournemouth, Brighton, Swansea, and Stoke, is far more relevant. Similar catchment areas to Peterborough. City has a lot more to compete with!
McAnthony may ‘talk the talk’, but despite the glittering ‘sales’, Peterborough is no big success story. In 2004 they were in the third tier, which is where they are now.Stoneski, Bronco, Mickey bantam and 1 other person like this. -

Peterborough’s focus every year is on goals and entertaining. Their production line of strikers they’ve developed and sold on for decent fees is testament to that.
Their obsession with scoring goals has seen them neglect their defence but it’s hard to get £5-£10m for a League 1 CB so I think that is why they continue to pour so much resource into finding goalscorers.
They don’t get big crowds and given the wage demands of Championship clubs - competing with ex Pl clubs on big parachute payments - you can forgive them for thinking they would be another ‘Rotherham’ really even if they went up.
The Posh model is exactly the model BCAFC should be aspiring to IMO. Unless you have billionaire owners you need to develop and sell players to exist.Rogered Tart, bantam2708, Fordy117 and 1 other person like this. -

towards the end of last season, like everyone, he began to struggle and to be honest - most did. this season under McCall he was played in an unfamiliar system and asked to do things, like others, that he simply couldn't. he lost his place to a kid, confidence was clearly shot and when called upon couldn't find any form.. I agree it's time for him to look elsewhere. simply because if we want to progress and get out of this league, we need players who can play league one and that isn't him.Foghornleghorn, Stoneski and pns1945 like this. -
GK - O'Donnel, Hornby
DF - Hossanah, Cousin-Dawson, French, POC, AOC, Staunton, Wood
MF - Sutton, Watt, Cooke, Scales, Pritchard, Ismael, Evans.
ST - Novak, Clarke, Donaldson
I dont think Ismael or Donaldson leave just yet. Ideally its Longridge, BRE, DMH, Samuels and Guthrie.
Replace them 5 with a CB, MF and ST and im happy enough. As long as they are improvements.pns1945, Offcomedun and 1975citygent like this. -
Some of the comments on Samuels are a bit harsh. He didn’t do all that well under Stuart (did anyone!), but he set up the goal at Crawley, but hasn’t played much since. I’d like to see him stay for the season to see what Trueman and Sellars can do with him under their formation.
