Agree Threlkeld and Gilliead both not been good enough, but I do think Gilliead is a good player and is suffering with having awful players around him, he's one of our few players we have that Is comfortable in possession and not looking to get rid of the ball asap, and with better players around him could flourish. As for Threlkeld well I think he is total gash and we need get rid of.

We've got a few players who are comfortable on the ball, I'm not sure why you're highlighting Gilliead. Callum Cooke, Elliott Watt, Charles Vernam, Levi Sutton, all very comfortable with the ball at their feet - Gilliead just happens to be the least dangerous in the opposition's final third.

I thought when Threlkeld came back from injury FCD was unlucky to be dropped and nothing has changed my mind since with regards Threlkeld performances.
Maybe Adams thinks his long throws offer something, if they can be classed as long throws, hardly in the Tozer category.

I think the bigger issue is that, much like the goalkeeper position, neither player is good enough.

FCD in his run made as many, if not more mistakes than Threlkeld and a steady, specialist right back has to be one of the primary targets for January.

I don't think either are anywhere near good enough.

I think he is highlighting Gilliead because he feels, as I do, that Gilliead is getting some unfair criticism on here. The reason we are in our present league position is a team and tactics issue. Gilliead is probably singled out because he is either the top earner or in the top three.

I think it's sheer lack of output to be honest. He's definitely got skill and ability on the ball, but he's the kind of attacker that stops you winning games unless everyone else provides all the goal threat for him.

I agree that is the weak/vunerable side, my point was if there is little between them and Adams doesn't think that is a priority developing FDC would be my option.

Matty Foulds is a better choice, Better in the air, Better defender and a great crosser of the ball, Usually plays on other side but most full backs are interchangeable so no problem there, Just Adams not having the nous or vision to play him, instead of the dreadful Threlkeld

Foulds isn't good enough either. He put in one good cross at Port Vale and suddenly he's Bradford’s Roberto Carlos. As bad as Threlkeld has been, playing a LB at RB is not the answer.

    Nonsense.

It's well known that we don't pay wages to any of the players brought in under Adams (by someone else). Gilliead pays £5 a week subs to City so he can have a game.

Nah, he's singled out because he's crap.

His attacking output over the last 3 or 4 seasons will also back up my view so it's not just a "fordy-esque" throwaway line, the evidence is actually there to back the opinion up.

I agree with him. I'd have both out and a new RB in as soon as poss. Threlkeld needs to go back to playing Inspector Lewis's sidekick on TV because he's better at that than playing football.

FCD’s performance at Tranmere was enough indication for me that he’s not quite there yet. After his error for the second goal he fell apart and was all over the place.

On average, they’ve both been very much that, Average. It’s just as the more experienced, Threlkeld came with more expectation and hasn’t delivered to date.

For me Threlkeld still gets the nod……..just.

Most full backs are not interchangeable at all. Did Darby and Meredith play left or right back?

I'm not sure one good performance proves the point?

Apart from Cancelo and perhaps Azpilcueta to an extent, are there many more in the PL that can genuinely play both sides equally as well?

Yes I was there and it was poor defending (although he was not alone that second half) as I say if Adams is not going to strengthen the RB position maybe we should try and develop FCD,

Quotung Luke Hendrie was a bit tingue in cheek, but I think there is an argument that a good enough footballer playing out of position can perform better than a poor footballer playing his favoured position.....struggling to come up with an immediate example though
