How the heck are these two in the team, Threlkeld cannot defend and the worst crosser of a ball in the division which is a joke when played as a wing back supposed to supply crosses,
Gilleard can work hard but his score rate and assist rate are dire, There must be better in the squad

Our left wing has always been the stronger with Ridehalgh and Vernam, but still not majorly productive.

We don't get much out of our right wing at all, which would be okay if that side was the defensive side in terms.of balance, but it's not.

    Two underachievers.

Is this the thread to decide who takes over from O'Donnell?

I'll agree on Threlkeld but yesterday Gilliead had a good game, Gilliead, Sutton and Watt for once linked up very well together. Watt probably had his best game of the season and unusually for him only gave the ball away once with a wayward pass and even then he redeemed himself by racing back and blocking the cross that resulted from it.

I thought Watt was really poor and kept getting caught on the ball (in a similar way to Canavan got caught in possession). Not a witch hunt, just thought in open play he was quite sloppy.
Gilliead I’d agreed had a better game and had it been for better deliveries from Threlkeld I think we’d have got the 3 points yesterday

Not been a fan of Gilliead at all. However, credit where it is due, he has had two good performances against Colchester and Sutton. Would still get rid if we could though.

Threlkeld has been poor all season and is lucky to be still first choice in my opinion.

Not a coincidence that Watt had his first good game of the season when scouts were there to watch him

Can he just turn it on when the scouts are there then?
Does he know every game whether the scouts are there?
They won’t be basing their decision on a half decent(at best) game against a very ordinary injury ravaged league 2 team.

Well if they had watched the rest of his games this season, their decision would already be made.

I get the impression that Gilliead is in the team more for his defensive attributes than his attacking prowess which is probably not the type of endorsement that you'd want for an attacking midfielder. I'm not going to completely write him off because he's neat and tidy and keeps the ball well and there are going to be matches or occasions in matches when that is what we'll need but we do need an alternative that provides more goal threat from that position.

Our right side is definitely weaker in both strength and depth than the left side and I'd expect that to be addressed in January.

Gillead’s output is lower than Joe Colbeck, or so it seems. He’s less of a headless chicken but his goal contributions are less and thats what we need!

Agree totally, to be fair to Gilly he has done ok in the two games this week but he HAS to up the offensive side of his game if he is ever going to become a key player at the club

Interesting to watch next Saturday. Jordan Gibson should be playing for Carlisle, he already has five goals this season. His goals per game ratio is 0.26 (l accept some were in Ireland), whereas Gilliead is on 0.06!

We have a chance of doing well against Carlilse as they are currently our feeder club-

Gibson,Devine,Mellor and Guy(a loan player), no wonder they sit below us in L2.
When i say do well i mean a score draw of course!

Don’t get the love in with Watt!!! Didn’t really notice yesterday that his game was any different gives ball away a lot, can’t tackle and positionally out of possession shocking (I do think some of that though is Adams doing making him play so deep he is like an extra centre half). Gilliead appalling says a lot that yesterday was prob his best game….. end product zero. As for threlkeld ‍no words required!!! We currently have 1 player I would be bothered about losing and that’s Sutton the rest not bothered either way.

Don’t forget the former our former full back Joe Riley (and as we were repeatedly told former Manchester U23 Captain).

Threlkeld has definitely not been the player we hoped so far and I’m sure would admit his performances need to improve.

FCD hasn’t yet proved he’s ready to take his spot yet so Adam’s has little other choice.

I agree with the analysis Morais had after the game yesterday saying that it looks as though Threlkeld is been expected to play in a more advanced ‘wing back’ position and looks more suited to a traditional defensive full back. Further problem for him is I think he gets exposed with our formation with no fixed RM to support.

Think you're right. Adams likes Gilliead's hard work and defensive qualities and seemingly is prepared to overlook his lack of attacking output.
