I don't mind us squeezing every penny out of whatever we can. And if the owners position is that our running and playing costs have to be self sufficient - as long as he's not taking money out for himself - then im OK with that too. The real question is whether we're pushing the budget as far as we can in those parameters and whether the squad weve got is therefore at the very top end of what we can afford without Stefan putting money in. I'm also hopeful that we've stashed a few quid away to strengthen in January

So we're signing a striker that has been deregistered since January so that Guthrie could be registered oh dear. Some one can try and spin it but this is a desperation signing and not even one I can get slightly enthused about. Just listened to the interview with Adams and its blatantly clear that the player isn't what he really wants. He sounded almost annoyed at the end of the interview when he talks about how it's not Angol because Angol is a quality player.

I’d honestly rather give Scales a chance in that sort of inside left forward position Angol was taking up tbh, I thought he looked dangerous going forward back end of last season and he’d give it his all and is already here on a new deal. I’d put him before Robinson but I hope he proves me wrong if he gets on.

Shouldnt have come to this, scrating around whilst we are actually playing on deadline day.
No excuses here, this should have been an easy window building on the groundwork done in the summer and positivity of a great start.
If we can't improve the squad now we never will. All points to a clash of opinions between manager, recruiting team and budget settersManningham bantam and Fordy117 like this. -

Couldn't see them clamour for another midfielder personally unless another was leaving which didn't happen.
We need to be organised, but again I guess thats the norm/pitfall when you have recruitmant managers and managers. Opinions may differvladimir and Gardscoigne like this. -
Alex Jones was available and he did ok for Northampton lad season. Younger, eager and I know has had injury problems but I’d have taken Alex in a heartbeat -

Within our budget we can't recruit the type of attacker we want yet the manager has said openly that he doesn't want to "grow his own" - the young ones need to be ready to play not developing.
Surely these two things will create conflict. The Evidence and vladimir like this. -

So number 10 shirt still not allocated then. Very odd.
Do we have an out of contract player lined up, or do we have a credible target lined up for January, or have we forgot to allocate the number 10 shirtvladimir and The Evidence like this. -
He's had so many clubs, he's never had more than 32 starts in a season, outside The Championship.
So he's hardly likely to be hitting double figures at those clubs on a regular basis.
The problem with him is clearly that he's not a 'team' man - if he was managers wouldn't be so anxious to get rid.
The problem as shown only two seasons ago, is not scoring.
We needed a goalscorer. Under the circumstances, it's a satisfactory appointmentBronco and Wakefield Bantam like this. -

Let’s not forget we have had a good start to the season despite injuries to key players. Obviously it would have been nice to have a bit more strength in depth but we have seen enough to suggest we have enough to be up there challenging

Underwhelming but it's not the end of the world, he's a back up, 3rd choice forward at best and only one a one year deal. Let's just calm it a bit. Robinson, his record in L2 isn't too bad for a 3rd choice. Since the start of the 18/19 season he's had 73 games in this division scoring 21 goals. His overall record in L2 is a goal every 220 minutes, for someone who is a very last minute grab, just here to make up the numbers this season, more likely until January, it's not a bad move.
Seen someone mention he was on 2K a week at Port Vale, like it's a surprise or a high number. At the time of him signing his deal, it really wasn't. Manchester Evening News for the 19/20 season did a report against the EFL divisions to see the average earning of these players. The average wage in L2 was £2,191 per week. The one season salary cap meant lower wages were offered out, that has probably dropped the average slightly for the 21/22 campaign. But Theo Robinson had just scored 10 in 19 starts for Colchester at this level, so it really isn't a surprise that a team like Vale were offering out £2k a week, a very average salary at the time for this division, to a bloke who was just on a good scoring run.Interested Bystander and Botswana Bantam like this.
