Spot on. Miller is possibly the worst striker to compare anyone to. He is awful, a homeless person's version of ollie mcburnie (before we sold him)

    What is a Striker ? .
Strikers used to score goals as centre forwards peeling of defenders and running into space receiving the ball and scoring. Present times we just seem to have any players playing in an attacking position let’s call them forwards . Maybe I’m dated wanting a man up front scoring goals .

The simple fact is we haven't got a out and out striker to replace cook who I believe will get 15/20 goals but I don't see anyone else getting close to double figures otherwise

So, basically we all agree with what I have been saying for months. We lack quality.

Not spending that few hundred grand could cost us in the long run.

We’ve to hope Cook stays fit until January at least.

I thought Evans played well first half yesterday, quieter second half though. I’d like better but Songo’o, Watt, Evans and Sutton aren’t that bad a midfield four. Akpan and Wright were worse.

I know, I couldn’t stop laughing. Miller was crap, as late as yesterday between 1500hrs and 1700hrs. He offered absolutely nothing.

Just had a browse through the free agent list and noticed a certain Kieran Agard was still a few agent. He'd certainly have been a good Addition if he was affordable.

Plenty of other realistic targets on there though such as Craig Davies, Nicky Ajose, Calvin Andrew or even Steve Davies who I thought did well here under Parky.

    He was. He's was shocking.

All the ex players that have turned up to VP this season so far have been crap.

Add David Nugent to that list NM.
Like most of them he is 36 years old but I'm sure he'd have bagged a couple of those many chances yesterday.
Surely a deal until the end of the season wouldn't break the bank for one of these lads?

Adams seems to have found him a role that actually fits his style. He was pretty good until he got clattered. He seemed to tail off, I assume due the the after effects ?

Cook -Lavery - Robinson and Angol , all drawing a wage as strikers.
Can not see us spending any more money on a free agent striker, no matter who they are.
They are also free agents for a reason, usually past it , wage demands too much or just not good enough.
we will just have to go with what we have , hope one of them clicks and that Angol recovers quiker than expected.

If I owned the club I'd stop fecking about and let Adams get in Agard (or a.n. other) and possibly a free agent right back.

For the sake of 6 or 7 grand a week we'd actually have a pretty complete squad.

If we had pushed the boat out, and had lets say, 150k to spend on a striker - who would we have got?

I don't think Adams is going to go down the free agent route, the same way as he doesn't go down the loan route. I'm thinking he wants players who are match sharp and have had regular game time (which is why the Robinson signing imo was a desperation signing organised by Sparks/Turnbull to at least get someone through the door to show we are being "progressive). Agard only played half the games last season (4 goals). Nugent would be an interesting one. Hasn't played much, but has bags of experience and would definitely play League Two because he was with Tranmere on loan last season. Suprised they haven't called him back. Certainly can't be worse than Lavery, and I'd be happy to have an old head in the team.

We had so many areas lacking in quality there just wasn’t much left. Left back, right back, cook, Songo’O, Eisa won’t have come cheap. The number 10 he wanted would also cost a fair bit no doubt. Did he risk spending that money on another good striker or is he waiting for his primary target to join in January ?

That would indeed explain why he's not got a club yet.

I would add chronic injury to that list. You look at players like Novak, who retired, due to injury. The attrition on the body is tough for professional footballers. The longer you have played, then the increase in wear and tear will take its toll on many.
