To play that role, you don't just need flair and technical ability, you arguably need to work harder than anyone else.

Invariably, whenever we've signed a false striker in the past, Billy Clarke aside, they've lacked that work rate. Billy Clarke isn't a great example either, by the way, but better than we've seen so far.

 

And this is the guy who Mickey finally chose to be the captain, after weeks of deliberation.

Funny how you pick out a Blackburn midfielder that excelled (Dack), while comparing him to a midfielder who did NOT excel at Blackburn (Payne).

And therein lies the problem; Payne is nowhere near as good as Bradley Dack or Nick Powell.

Saying that the position is a useful one is fine and dandy; I didn't say it wasn't. I said Payne is an impact sub and a luxury player.

If we had Dack or Powell, we should build the whole team around them.

We don't.

We've got a luxury player.

 

What I find odd is that it has been suggested on here (I can't find the posts I'm afraid) that there was (or is) a potential shortage of people able and willing to be the manager of Bradford City.

That can't be true. As an outsider I would consider Bradford City to be a club in a division lower than it should be, with good facilities and good support.

Perhaps the current owner is a bit of a liability (only guessing from reading some of your posts) but I would still think that there would be a multitude of applications and options.
