Councillors to be urged to agree to continue funding Halifax's Piece Hall - but it is not known how much council will give (halifaxcourier.co.uk)

Looking at this article from 2023 with accounts dated back to 21/22 it was only10% of income for the Piece Hall Trust. Think it's £450k for 2023. It's not a subsidy it's a grant, which may be one that even comes from the government, and if grants aren't used they are simply wasted and the money gone, probably back to the government, so it won't actually be impacting other services!! It must generate an absolute fortune for the local economy and businesses. Piece Hall (and Halifax in general) is far busier than, for example, North Parade on non match days!! Know where I'd rather go on a non match day!!

Yes it used to be a decent trip out as far back as the 80’s , lots of little shops and stalls. We used to park up in the main yard from memory. What a superb facility, in Bradford, it would have been replaced by something made of concrete. Amazing how Poulson didn’t get his grubby criminal hands on it?

I'd rather read TCA, my point remains clubs have been purchased and the stadium is not a part of the deal, someone posted a list several weeks back and it wasn't just the odd club.

I believe Richmond actually tried to purchase the terrace houses at the back of the kop to allow the stand to flow right round to the Midland Road stand.
I believe at the time the Planning Officer Councilor Syd Collard was very reluctant to give permission even if the houses, (Collard describing the Bantams' new Carlsberg stand as a monstrosity for people living nearby when he saw the plans. The Labour group meeting was subsequently lobbied by Bradford City supporters) had been purchased but although is was rumoured at the time Richmond had offered far more than they were worth the residents weren't playing ball, so I very much doubt the purchase of houses at the back of Hollywell Ash Lane would be an option.
Just checking my comments were correct and I came across this article with regards our dead old friend SydCollard:
https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/8033500.syd-85-reaches-last-item-on-his-agenda/ an interesting read especially the paragraph about Odsal .

They aren't subject to the same constraints which apply to large pension schemes, eg company wide schemes. Trustees of an SSAS have much greater flexibility in how the pension fund is administered particularly on where the funds are invested. There are still limitations in some areas eg complying with HMRC rules and whatever is included in the trust deed. I also said that Trustees would be idiots if they failed to consult with their beneficiaries if they were considering anything contentious unless they wanted to engage in legal arguments with their family members! As for going to jail, best ask the person who intimated that!

Who has purchased the club? Mark Lawn (skint) and The Germans(how has that gone)

If you cannot see that owning the stadium would make us a far more attractive prospect and attract a better quality of investor then lets end the conversation here and never speak again.

Simple answer. Sydney Collard, head of planning. Didn't like GR and the feeling was mutual. Although GR's plan was to build the main stand extension "in the sky" so it would have cantilevered over the road.

Given he admitted the main stand upper tier was a step too far, it;s a good job he got turned down, otherwise our debt at admin one could have been approaching £50m.

Agree with this and people base their opinions on what is there now.

There's no way that anyone would (hypothetically) build a new sports stadium at Odsal and the roads would remain as is. Look at the new Everton stadium. Over £20m being spent on improving just one link road alone.

There'd be a whole improvement scheme in place and the council would find money to put in to get benefits from it if someone with deep pockets decided to build it there.

The only way a stadium build in Bradford would be beneficial would be to build it slap bang in the middle and create a ripple effect.

Clearly not the only way. You're missing the words "in my opinion" from your post somewhere.

The outline planning application which BFG submitted for extending the main stand towards the Bradford End involved road closures - parts of Valley Parade and Hollywell Lane and Sth Parade - and the potential CPO of a small number of houses. They were the same reasons of course why the original planning app for the main stand had stopped short. Given the ill feeling which was there already, the new application was unlikely to ever succeed! BFG decided to save face and voluntarily withdrew the application before the application was refused by the Planning Committee.

I think that was the first planning application, later amended to build "in the air", as I recall hearing Shaun Harvey actually say those words in an interview. The second application was also rejected by Sydney Collard and his mates.

Show me where I've said different to your above I haven't in fact I posted this " I agree it's not ideal to not have the ground in the package your buying but others have overcome it in the past", as I've pointed out its not stopped deals being done in the past at clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, West Ham, Notts Forest, Coventry Leeds didn't even own their ground or training facilities I didn't hear two many detractors when Rupp and Rahic bought the club without owning the stadium, so stop moving the goal posts to suite your argument.
It seems you don't like being challenged @Sergio Pinto III@Sergio Pinto III, go ahead presses your default button when other posters don't agree.

Quite possibly they are very old houses and look large properties, I believe you're correct there was no love lost by either and rumour at the time was Collard had told the house owners not to sell.
My brother and I were at Valley Parade for some reason one day and spoke with Shaun Harvey with regards the extension of the Bradford End he showed us the building plans and what was required to the road at that end of the stadium saying if the club built over Holywell Ash Lane they had to provide access for businesses around that area which Shaun said would be expensive but with the extension on the Midland Road Stand it would increase our capacity to 34,000 I believe he said ?.

No need to play the victim Bronco, lets have a grown up debate.

You just keep banging on about 'weve been bought before without owning the ground' and I am simply stating it's a flawed argument because look where we are and look who owns us.

And please. do not compare us anywhere close to the clubs you mentioned. Its nonsical and should not even be a factor.

You just said you didn't want to continue the conversation, once again I was making the point you seem unable to accept it doesn't matter if its a big club or in our case small club new owners had bought without owning the ground fact.
