I thought they looked decent against Bolton. Not great yesterday but think Novak has goals in him.

We deffo need another one.

 

He’s been looking for ages though. In a supposed buyers market.

 

Doyle had already gone by January, he shouldn’t have come back but Rhodes and Bowyer messed about.

Oteh, Vaughan and Patrick went in January, For all the chuntering about their replacements, they’re here.

 

Unfortunatly those chances make the difference, it was not because we created nothing (although we hardly over ran Colchester) but we put away the chances we do create.

 

Exactly the constant whinging about Vaughan does not make any difference to having pace in the side, we are where we are still time to bring players in although it would have been better to have our fill squad together a few weeks ago.
Overall not a great performance against a side that made the play offs last season but hardly a disaster.

 

Simple fact is, we've got three strikers in Novak, Guthrie and Donaldson, who all have the same skill set. When Donaldson came on, I am not sure what role he thought he had to play. There was one instance, where the ball was booted up to him in the centre circle, and with no challenge coming in, he opted to flick the ball on, instead of taking it down on his chest/knees/foot and holding up the play. His flick on went to no one, because Novak had come deep to get the ball.
DMH is terrible. I'd say maybe one pass he did led to something (Novaks miss). Apart from that, they just stood off him and let him run out of space. Billy Clarke did the same on the other side, but kept cutting inside and running into traffic. Guthrie had good feet, but his awareness isn't good. If he wants to get the ball, then he has to make runs.

If we haven't got a new striker by next week, I'm starting to question if we'll get one at all. I don't know what more is needed to highlight that we're not going to score many goals with these two/three up front.

 

I can't be too mad with Novak, Guthrie or even Donaldson. They're all decent 2nd strikers and kinda do okay in that sort of role.

It's not their fault that they're being pushed into the role of main goalscorers which they clearly can't do.

 

See Accrington Stanley seemed to have signed a cracking forward. Got him from Stockport County, we never seem to be aware these players are around, don't we look?.

 

Our dealings in January have left us with what we currently have, infact the whole mismanagement with Vaughan was to blame for our current predicament.

 

They are not in league 2 are they? How do you know we haven't enquired after him?
And whats cracking about him-whoever he is?

 

We're going to look even more stupid if this elusive striker, who we've waited months to sign, turns out to be shit.

its shit or get off the pot time for bringing a striker in now, nobody at the club can justify the current scouting and recruitment set up if we fail at this
