There are various shades, I suppose, of consistency, but regardless of the quality of individual match performances, overall we have indeed been very consistent within this season, and in comparison to our most recent good seasons -- the playoff seasons of 15/16 and 16/17, and the start of 17/18 (in terms of points, and goals for and against).

For this season, we have -- with one match still to go -- in our second 10-game segment matched the wins, draws, and points of our first segment, scoring one fewer goal, and conceding the same amount. Our current pace has us headed for the playoffs at the least; in some years it has been enough for automatic promotion. Given that we've maintained it now for (almost) 20 matches, perhaps a bit of optimism isn't misplaced.

Even I'm beginning to feel a little optimistic, and I was certainly one who expected/predicted a mid-table finish for this season.

Correction: We made them look average, like we have everybody else.

They have a loan keeper who for all I know is a German version of Pickford, Lloyd Isgrove is not a League Two player and is third top assister in the division, Kayne Woolery, Michael Doughty and Keshi Anderson all have four assists each - the same number as our top assister, Harry Pritchard.

Their defence is hardly abysmal either, so I don't really see what you're saying?

Who are the poor players that are doing nothing but riding the strikers' coattails?

I'm certainly looking forward to reading the report for the next 10 game section, but you might need to add *SPOILERS* to the above post

I really hope we win the next one, and to me it matters not a bit if it's 1-0 or 5-0, the points tally just needs to keep ticking over with as few as possible slip ups.

Didn't we play against 10 men for 80 minutes? How is that a positive result?

If that's how you see it, that's how you see it. But I suggest you re-read what I posted about how being optimistic would impact positively on both players and fans. It's good news .. so far as it goes. But drawing comparisons with the nearly season misses the important point. Early successes at home ultimately led to nothing that season. That's not being optimistic, nor pessimistic; it's a matter of record

It's a bit like a football game which we have lost. Some might want to take the positives from the game and say for 20 minutes we run them off the park and scored a good goal but then fail to mention the result. And it's end results which ultimately matter. But by focusing on the first 10 games at home (where we have done very well) and ignoring the 9 away games is not a balanced view. Equally not referring to how such a good start at home in the 1988 season still didn't get us promoted doesn't explain the entire position.

What you mean is take the two players I've heard about because they've scored goals. To be honest you can say that about a lot of teams. Take away their two best players and they are average

Well one is our player and the other is another clubs player. That's the difference.

Their best players don't belong to them.

Let's not forget Terry Dolan inherited a very good squad which he saw with a change here and there would make us a very competitive team, the major decision was playing with a sweeper rather than the orthodox back 4, Dave Evans took to it like a duck takes to water.
Now the squad Gary Bowyer inherited is a far different situation and although we have hardly been breath taking to watch I'll personally sacrifice that for promotion.

Because it was ONLY posted to prove some sort of point to anyone the poster deems negative, or in response to the 'hysteria' he feels is on the forum.

so it's only right to point out the season he is referencing didn't actually end up all that brilliant.

Shame you couldn't have actually witnessed that season yourself. Apart from a few dodgy games and dodgy referring-especially at Man City away when Hendrie was wrongly sent off that was one of the best all round city teams I have witnessed. And some great memories to boot. So whilst it didn't end up brilliant it was actually brilliant to watch. If Hendrie hadn't been sent off I reckon we would have got automatic promotion. Fine margins.

How dare you come on here with your facts, trying to spread your positivity. It is clear Bowyer is a terrible manager, and we will finish nowhere near the playoffs... (sarcasm, incase it needed pointing out).

Sheer nerve! Also, I'm an ocean away -- distance will, I hope, protect me from the tar & feathers & pitchforks mob! But I reserve the right to turn more Eeyoreish (or Marvinish) if necessary.

    - Who are you?
    - I am Majikthise.
    - And I demand that I am Vroomfondel.
    - It's alright, you don't need to demand that.
    - All right, I am Vroomfondel, and that is not a demand, that is a solid fact! What we demand is solid facts!
    - No we don't. That is precisely what we don't demand.
    - We don't demand solid facts! What we demand is a total absence of solid facts!

You're failing to mention though that they played most of the match with 10 men.
