Well if they hadn’t been so stupid and gone public before any deal was signed they have only themselves to blame but I am glad they did because it obviously scuppered a bad deal

If you mean her, then it's not really a very good way of expressing it really because she was the biggest sharlatan to pre date Bojo.

 

Rupp positioning himself as Custodian of the club has some irony.

He invested in the club for financial gain, and was negligent in his duties to ensure the business was being run well. Some basic controls and oversight of his ceo, a recent acquaintance, could have stopped the millions in losses that were run up.

He gets no credit in my eyes for covering the losses that he was culpable for being unaware of. And doubly so, by then taking revenue in the form of McBurnie money to cover it.

That money should have been converted into a longterm loan, recovered on sale of the business, if and when he has delivered a recovery.

That money could have, could still be, invested into the business.

Invested over a number of years into targetted player purchases, with a view to creating a cycle of performance improvenent and resale value.

Or invested to create off-field assets for the benefit of the club in the longrun.

He has covered covid losses and for that, can be applauded. With the caveat, that it was in his self interest to protect his investment.

These Americans may prove to be conmen and charlatans. Mr Rupp may have saved the club from future ruin. Then again, maybe not. Only those who have seen their funding plans, business case and met them can do so.

He now needs to find a buyer who can take the club forward, or step up and properly deliver on his promises. A vision needs setting out and money invested to back it.

 

Park, at this stage, with clearly a lot of frustration and anger in quarters, wouldn't it be wise, to take a step back from being obtuse and antagonist. Come on, I know you're taking the defence of the decision not to sell, which you are entitled but debate wisely.

 

What did they go public on, in your opinion?

It's been a long 3 years since then and we're still waiting.

 

I am not saying it would have worked out for us under the Americans, but now we have knocked their offer back I can guarantee they will invest in some other basket case of a club and take them to the premiere league. Just our luck.

 

He’s deflecting away from the fact he made a completely ridiculous statement about being sure what our “ general fan base” thinks based on absolutely no facts whatsoever.

My wife who is a season ticket holder of fairly long standing but doesn’t post on here would love Rupp to sell up and fu@k off away from the club and was quite up for a bit of a change of direction from the norm.So that’s 1 person more than Park is basing his unfounded stupid assumption on.

 

There are a lot of dubious characters/agents etc involved in football, particularly around people who might not be all that clued up.

It would not be the first time a poteny deal has been brokered by someone trying it on thinking they'd get both parties to accept.

Going public was clearly misjudged, and of concern.

But why was the deal so obviously bad? Obviously you must have read the business case to form this opinion. Can you scan a copy and post it on here for us to read too?

 

Yes, and that's very laudable. But we're still stagnating under his tenure.

 

Actually I sometimes wonder if you are really a 70 plus adult or just a stupid little pedantic boy. That quote, by that horrible woman, was made in reference to a war in which thousands died or were maimed.

A war caused by her stupid nationalistic ego in wanting to keep hold of a group of islands we had very little right to occupy.

Rupp and Co may have had an offer from our American friends but he may also have offers elsewhere. Our American friends made a lot of noise but not in a manner, one would associate in such purchases. A potential curveball to buy in a demanding fanbase?

I will be surprised if something doesn't happen. Stefans days are numbered by this decision to say no, so he must have a plan b.

Irrespective of how this saga has ended, the last couple of days has probably been the most promising and exciting few days we've had in the last 4/5 years. And what has it consisted of? A couple of random American crypto investors hosting a Twitter space claiming they were buying us.

We're that starved of success and positivity that the first sign of Rupp being replaced with someone who actually wants to progress the club, nomatter how flimsy and distant the connection, it created a buzz that the on field performances could only dream of.

And that in itself is a damning indictment of Rupp's reign at VP.
