I never liked Rahic's idea, but there are plenty on here who still say he had the basic principles of a good idea, he just couldn't execute them.

    Not for me, though.

The idea of a League One club establishing a development squad on the cheap was laughable. Peterborough don't actually do that, they buy expensive prospects and put them straight in the first team and that's how they generate offers to buy.

Signing Callum Gunner and expecting him to come good in three years time made absolutely no sense to me, and it was an idea we'd already failed with before.

I remember also criticising the Peterborough model as not being particularly successful. All that money, all that transfer turnover, and they've largely trod water as a decent League One side that occasionally flirts with the Championship before swiftly getting relegated and inevitably finishing 10th in League One, which outlines their ceiling as a club with their infrastructure.

Much better to scrap all that, pump all resources into the first team, bully our way out of League Two (although we shouldn't be here, and wouldn't be if it wasn't for Rupp and Rahic), bully out way to the top of League One, THEN concentrate on developing players when we have enough resources as an established Championship club.

It doesn't show I have a "limited understanding of NFT's", the point was it was an absolutely ridiculous attempt at appealing to emotion in order to take a dig at the potential buyers. What does considering your love for the club an "NFT" have anything to do with anything other than a play on words? It was a shit attempt at a 'gotcha'

We have tried to do that for years and where as it got us. It is time to put more money into scouting and player development and build up to the Peterborough model as we go along becoming self sufficient. For me we have gone backward this year we had players like Staunton who were coming on nicely and what happens we appoint a manager who doesn’t believe in it and these players disappear

I'm not commenting on value of the original poem, I'm just going off your comment, if you can't understand how love is non-fungible then it does show that you don't understand the concept. I mean, if I'm wrong, explain how love is fungible because it has to be one or the other.

If anyone has lost money on Bitcoin then they deserve it. They shouldnt have been investing in the first place. The coin has been on a constant upwards trend so any losses are clear stupidity. You might be referring to onecoin which was just a pyramid scheme fraud perpetrated by a lady who is now on the run. Onecoin never existed so those losses are not related at all to the crypto markets.

Crypto, especially on the Ethereum network, which you clearly have no understanding of is being embraced by the banking sector. The very establishment you save your money with is backing it up via crypto.

So far reading your posts you sound like a dinosaur with absolutely no understanding of the technology. This tech is here to stay and its because of the decentralised aspect of it. I suggest you read up on it. How the Ethereum network layers other apps and technologies. Such as smart contracts. If you do the reading then you will see that its not about selling digital art to city fans and its about the birth of web3.

We will be the most cutting edge football club in the world. Its time for doubters to step aside unless they can provide an argument based in fact that disproves the point.

You're asserting my comment about the poem was arguing whether love is fungible or not, which is just an odd takeaway to get from that.

We haven't implemented the basic strategy well, but it was working prior to Rahic's involvement.

Sparks, clearly, has neither the vision or knowhow to maintain even a basic level of consistency when it comes to on-the-pitch affairs.

But you know what I'd do to improve that, and the initials are DoF. The first team is the only way this club goes forward, but it does require more than just plucking a successful manager and expecting him to make a palace out of a few sacks of manure.

Good analogy for Bradford. When I started work in Leeds in 1983 it was a dump, especially boar Lane, vicar Lane and around the markets. Bradford had a much better night life and generally busier city centre.

Leeds Council invested and now it sucks the life out of Bradford.

You are spot on, invest or die.

Hold on. You can't comment on Adams being the one to take us up then want him to throw young players in if that's against his strategy?
And if you want to follow the Peterborough model then you are gonna have to find owners willing to fund expensive transfers and an grade of their academy system to level 2, all of which costs a lot of money.

    Quite right.

The Peterborough model is about as clear of a 'speculate to accumulate' policy as you can get.

That isn't going to happen with Rupp at the helm. Youngsters like Reece Staunton don't have anything to do with the Peterborough model, that's more a Rahic-type thing - although he would have flooded our club with poor young players from elsewhere, and there's no guarantee Staunton would have stood out in the first place.

The same people think that the government have a ring fenced pot of money that is used for the state pension and that the state pension is a God given right.

They don't realise the workers of today are paying the tax that funds the pensioners of today because the money they paid in tax was spent decades ago.

I remember hearing MacAnthony on his podcast saying they were looking to bring 5 or so youngsters through every season and his upgraded academy is the catalyst for this. Their under age levels are producing greatly stats results wise, this an end product of club with a clear long term vision of how youth will play a predominant part of that future. Most of their signings are geared towards it, they make high profile lower league signings but also sign a lot of potential in the under age groups.
Now there is nothing to stop us doing that. But you would have to be prepared it would take years to properly bare fruit and you would need a manager to buy fully into that concept. That clearly is nothing like our strategy, a strategy we have pretty much is sustainability at all costs. I can't remember how many millions MacAnthony said the owners had to pump into to offset the loss they make each season from wage bills etc, it's why those punts he takes on lower league players have to be successful, otherwise its coming out of the owners pocket. Peterborough are fully committed on taking the gamble that ultimately make the difference. It's end game is sustainability, much like ours, but with a completely different strategy that has far bigger risks. But what comes with those risks is far bigger rewards. Its why we are swimming in the league 2 shit pool with very little in terms of player assets, while Peterborough in the championship with potentially 10s of millions of assets on their books.

If it is investment type speculation, offerings should be licensed and regulated. There's a massive boom in this stuff by cowboys trying to beat (slow-moving) regulations coming down the pipe. Crypto prices tend to fall with each announcement about possible regulations because so many "investors" don't realise they are not regulated and it highlights the risks involved which they might have ignored up to that point.

Cryptos and NFTs are here to stay. They have a big future. But plenty are irresponsible me-too get rich quick scams, ripping naive people off in an unregulated arena that is about to get regulated and slow the goldrush. If there is a digital investment for BCFC local and global fans to buy into, there should be an investment prospectus before the offering. I look forward to reading it. ("Global" could be very complicated as regulations vary from region to region, making a nightmare of legal technicalities in any prospectus.)

Don't think of tokens as shares. Shares are regulated and have legal rights that most tokens do not have (as yet). Securities laws are already beginning to get enforced on crypto investments. If it gets floated as an investment, it should be regulated as an investment. If it is not an investment, then it should be made perfectly clear to purchasers that they do not have the legal rights and protections of regulated investments. This is being glossed over a lot. The divide between the two in the crypto space is a very grey area at the moment. Legal cases and regulation consultations are starting to shed some light on that - but probably not quickly enough to protect a lot more people from losing their money.

    Good post.

I'm not a massive fan of the Peterborough model, as I've said, or the model of cheap development squads (although I see that's not what you're describing at Peterborough), but what strikes me about your summary here is this:

Imagine MacAnthony interviewing for the vacant managerial position and a manager saying 'no, I don't really want to play young players'.

How long do you think that meeting would last for after that?

Now compare to what Sparksy boy has allowed Adams to do... club scout sacked, total 180 on the focus of blooding our academy products, no interest in younger players...

One has a strong-willed leader with a vision, we have Ryan Sparks and Stefan Rupp who have thus far displayed passing fancies masqueraded as long-term goals and footballing culture... Sad.

As others have said before, Adams is our system and as such our eggs are all in his basket. Great if it works but if it doesn't we are back to square one, and again with no back up system. The club should decide its direction from the top down and employ people within that system. The system is more important than the individual components, if one of those components doesn't work can change that individual. If for some reason we sack Adams the system leaves with him.
