Wonder if, and how much, Crawley manage to raise from NFTs. Plus wouldn't they need to sell/raise the same every year to keep on funding it?

Yeah, presumably whatever the spend above and beyond what they already make as a club will be funded by NFTs.

I suppose it might look like this: https://www.nba.com/sixers/news/76ers-nft-collection-released

This happened after Dan Morey was installed as President of the 76ers in 2020, and they won the Eastern Conference for the first time in 20 years in his first season as President.

Morey is part of the incoming team at Crawley Town.

It's a pretty impressive team they've got, all told.

Apparently they currently spend just over £1m so will have to raise a fair whack year on year, I could see it as a one off but not every year

Just had a look at the 76ers deal and it seems to be a combined deal with some shirt/ground sponsorship. The Crypto company seem to be paying for the sponsorship and then releasing NFTs to fund the sponsorship

Yeah, Crawley could easily end up sponsored by crypto.com in the future.

crypto.com are a big deal at the moment, and are the exclusive sponsor of the walk out shirts for the UFC.

    upload_2022-4-7_21-22-46.jpeg

I think once the crypto crowd are behind the idea, it won't really matter that it's 'Crawley', it will just matter that it's a unique series of NFT's and the assumption will be the value can only go up.

And if that's the assumption, that's the trend, and therefore that's the reality.

It's basically the acceptable face of gambling.

Good luck to them, they could be in a journey like we had with GR or just the end part.

I believe Crypto.com also have a big sponsorship deal with the World Cup coming up and can’t remember where else I’ve seen it advertised but think it was Formula 1. It’s not going anywhere regardless of what those uneducated on it think.

Theoretically Crypto & NFT's could become more popular than gambling, as you can effectively influence the market by promoting it.

Which you can't with gambling, you just either win or lose depending on the outcome.

Having said that, if it really, really takes off, a lot of the endeavours will fall down the cracks, and it will become a wild popularity contest. Crawley probably won't do that well if it gets too big, too soon :joy:

Just seen Liverpool raised just over £1m from the auction of NFTs recently, but 95% went unsold.

Liverpool tried to sell 171,000 of those NFTs which is just pointless if the value of it is determined by it's uniqueness...not surprised they mostly went unsold

There's NFTs with an actual use, and then there's the .jpg fad that gives the technology a bad rep
