I don't care about Rupps affinity for the club, I care about his lack of investment to take it forward.

I don't care where the new owners reside or what their primary motivation is - if they're willing to provide a cash injection, as well as other resources (data analytics) to drive progress and leave the football operation to football people, bring it on.

Frankly, I'm willing to take the risk. Because this club is going nowhere and save for a 3-4 year period driven by one man, we've been in decline for 20 years. How much worse can it get? We're at the arse end of the league, the football is crap, we have no assets, and we're only really one poor window or season away from relegation and thereby extinction anyway.

I have no interest in treading water in League 2 whilst village teams overtake us continually.

He was treated rather rudely, and everybody seemed to want to score points on his postings.

Even when he said he was done with the forum, there were a lot of posts saying nothing was out of order, even though there were a ton of comments about how he was self-serving and trying to protect his position rather than give honest opinions.

I don't blame him for taking a break.

Everyone thinks they're being fair when they aren't.

The trouble is @JonButterfield@JonButterfield, 80% of the posts berating another draw (as if it's a 7-0 defeat) are made by the same five or so posters who criticise the club regardless of what they do. The ones who slink into the darkness to sharpen their knives when we do well, waiting for the next bad result or tweet from the club. Unfortunately results haven't gone as well as expected so they've dominated the forum more than usual.
If he'd have blocked those five, he'd have had reasonable debate with the rest of us. Instead he's decided to switch off which is his right, but some of his insight will be missed. We should all be disappointed as supporters of the club, but we have to manage that disappointment and put it into context, just as we do with this takeover rejection. Hopefully they'll be another creditable bid around the corner, provided he's not bumped the price up to £15 million.

Bantam Talk likes to be inclusive. We welcome a wide range of views on City and other related subjects and indeed in General chat ‘the world and the universe’.
However from time to time (very often in some cases), some members embark on personal ‘attacks’ of other members. These are often removed.
It is clear that there are sometimes diametrically opposed views. That members have closed minds to alternative views. That is their pejorative.
Some posters, frankly do not want to see what some others say, but in the whole enjoy aspects of the message board and are informed by what they read (Bantam Talk is a good indicator of views).
So to help those who have had enough of certain posters, then here is the option to be a member, but to filter out some of the posters, who they have ‘had enough of’!

    To 'ignore' someone:
    • Go the 'Members' page. https://bantamtalk.com/index.php?members/
    • On the right hand side of the page is a box 'Find Member'. Type the name, i.e. Bantam WUM
    • Their avatar details will appear. Click on this.
    • On the right hand side of the page is a list; Report, Ignore, Follow
Hit the Ignore button and you will not receive any posts from them! You can always change your preference if you wish to do so.

I will tag @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler into this post. Personally I like different opinions and although I don’t always agree with members, it creates a broad view, rather than a myopic platform where everyone has an identical point of view.

'January is a difficult month to buy players'.

'Clubs in the higher leagues are reluctant to loan players out until the last minute, until they've concluded their own business and we can't wait forever'.

'Players either want to come to this football club or they don't. I'm not going to sell what it means to play for a club this size or in front of 14k fans every week. If they don't want to be here, then fine'

Odds on when we hear each of those next month...??

“The Trust invites comment from all Bantam’s fans, and requests that the Bradford City owner Stefan Rupp consults directly with the Trust before any decisions on any sale are taken.”

Only three or four days behind, absolutely useless are the supporters’ trust.

    1. I sit in C block, Main Stand. There are many older long time supporters who haven't been attending matches all season. That is clearly due to Covid nervousness.

    2. Many people have been moderating their social contacts in December so as not to screw up Christmas plans. That includes avoiding large crowds like football matches. You are 29, so that may not apply to you, but it certainly does to others.

    3. Our form has been poor, so many supporters aren't currently motivated to go out in the crap weather to watch poor football. That's a temporary phenomenon. An upturn in performances would soon see crowds rise again.

    4. Yes, we are performing badly compared to the likes of Harrogate, FGR and Sutton. But our potential is massively higher than any of those clubs. An ambitious owner with a clear plan and a willingness to spend a bit of cash on controlled investment could take us to the Championship or even back to the PL. That's never happening with those clubs.

    5. It's highly unlikely we'll go down this season, given the state of Scunthorpe and Oldham. Obviously if we continue to decline next season then the unthinkable could happen. But to describe us - currently in midtable, with all our potential - as "effectively a non-league club" is, as @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler would put it, a hysterical overreaction.

The reaction to some of our results and performances, particularly draws, has been hysterical all season. It's the right word.

From the beginning there have been knuckle draggers booing every draw at home and I never understood why. If the ref hadn't blown the final whistle just when we were lining up a shot, I'm positive some of those boos would have been directed at the team and manager. His ineptitude saved some embarrassment.

Then you log on here and words like abysmal awful dreadful hopeless... Those aren't words to describe a draw with Colchester in isolation - that's weeks and months and years of frustration distilled into a single over the top reaction. I can see why anyone at the club would ignore nonsensical reviews of an average performance when it's met with vitriol.

But... It's overall not good enough and there are no excuses, and as @How@How rightly says, at 3 o clock on a Saturday or 7 45 on a cold winters evening, nobody cares about sustainability, sponsorships or revenue because those clearly aren't at the level required for promotion because we lack quality and it's clear to see. If there's no investment from Rupp, he will be wanted out and rightly so. He has got us into this mess, he needs to be proactive in getting us out of it.

    Fast.

I agree with some of your points but to point towards a lack of due diligence from Lawn and Rhodes is unfair. If there is one thing Rahic did that was talk a good game. Rupp was clearly taken in by him, I think most of us were glad to see some new and ambitious owners with some good plans. Who doesn’t like the sound of investment in youth and facilities and talk of the premier league? Rahic’s ideas were probably right but he was obviously incapable of implementing it.

If most of us had been in Lawn’s and Rhodes’ shoes in the spring of 2016 we would have done exactly what they did.

Thanks for the information. I think I was first acquainted with Companies House and their reporting requirements about 30 years ago as a wet behind the ears newly qualified chartered accountant. Since then, I've lost count how many times I have used their services as a chartered accountant at one or other of the Big 4.

Having said that, I have no idea of the source of your £3mill loss which you referred to. FYI, in their latest accounts which are available at Companies House (2019/20 season), the club made a profit of about £1.2 mill.

"this is not what football clubs are for" yet all cool to sell to murderers and whatnot

If this happened with city and we had good results on the pitch the fans wouldn't give a toss what the owners are doing with crypto or NFT, and if that opened another revenue stream to boost the playing budget I can't see anyone complaining. "The futures now, old man"

All sounds great. The only thing I’d stress, and can’t emphasise strongly enough (because we speak from bitter experience) - whatever plans you have on the commercial side of the operation, you MUST employ and empower proven football people to run the football operation. Preferably people who’ve seen and led successes at other clubs. And don’t be tied to recruiting people with previous connections to the club - its rarely served us well, and most of our people only know failure, not success.
