RT is right - its patently clear that Rupp and Rhodes had no intention of a promotion push this season. Not even slightly.

And I think there’s every chance that next season will end up being wasted. We might well do a bit better in the transfer market than normal, but it won’t be enough. We’ll end up having to change managers by Christmas and the whole pissing thing will just continue.

 

How can you say that about JCT600? They've backed this club for years. And to be fair to Sparks he is trying to change things. Let's be honest Bradford as a city doesn't attract major business or investment and neither does the football club.

 

I agree - ish. But.....I do think this club has potential. Other clubs have attracted investment despite being less than glamourous. But it needs to be worked for. It needs someone with vision and charisma to attract major investment.

 

You need to remove your rose tinted spectacles. Bradford as a City is in terminal decline and most people have got out before their house price plummeted.

The new managers also deserve a chance to see what they can do with a new squad.

This club certainly has potential, it's not about having loads of cash, well not until you get to the Championship. Then you need it just to stay up.

look at Bradford-By-The-Sea (Morecambe). Much smaller town, smaller playing budget, yet when they beat us next week it could get them promoted. To be honest I cherish any City win but if we beat Morecambe next week it will be a disgrace after the way we have been performing.

Fordy is right to want more for this club but what you are saying is actually the reality of the situation.
The Labour leader of Bradford Council comes in for a lot of criticism, some of it maybe justified but she is trying to change things, from getting investment into the city to changing people's perception of the place and getting improvements to our transport infrastructure but she must feel like she is running through treacle sometimes. Bradford has been in a rut for quiet a long time like our club over the years I have followed them. The club has at least had the odd periods of success but is now in a period of stagnation.

 

Instead of making assumptions about Sparks why not get in touch with him and ask for a one to one meeting Fordy. Put forward your views (a lot of which I agree with) and see what answers you get. I know you say he is all soundbites but if you think about it guys in his position, even the experienced and successful ones all talk in soundbites and cliches, it comes with the job.

Do you know that the council gets money to home certain groups that others won’t.

Bradford council love the negative press and labour do nothing for Bradford.

The perception of Bradford does needs changing urgently.

 

If anyone had even slight doubts, surely today was the final straw. Out of their depth, devoid of ideas and totally deluded.

They may as well have next week's game then it's "Goodnight Vienna". That's the easy part. There's not much more talent around now than when Sparks last looked, three months ago. Then there's the problem of how do we attract anyone to the "Managers Graveyard"?

I agree, it doesn't sit easy with me saying I want us to lose, but if that might mean Morecambe go up automatically and Bolton drop into the playoffs, it would bring more of a smile to my face than winning next Saturday would.

 

I'd love Morecambe to go up, if that means wishing a defeat on my side, a side that hasn't bothered to turn to the last dozen or so games, then i'm happy with that.

 

Bolton have achieved nothing as of today , lost at home to Exeter and could miss out on the auto's and the playoff's are a lottery. Salford for there £5 million playing budget looking like they might not even make the playoff's.
Yes you are right Fordy , our league position is no where good enough, we should be doing better and this squad of players should have done better , enough quality to have made the playoff's . Too many under performed ,all year.

She is and they don't like the negative press these days because they've woken up to the fact that playing the sympathy card doesn't get you investment. As for your point about taking on certain groups for financial gain we aren't the only place that does it. Leeds do the same thing and then they pass on the undesirables of their own that damage the City's image to places like Bridlington and pay Scarborough and District Council for taking them on.
That is why I suggested you meet up Sparks to find out for yourself what's going on because that's what I do when I want to know what's going on in this once great City of ours, I meet up with and talk face to face with the people involved. Usually over a drink, people tend to loosen up when alcohol is involved, especially if they are tired.
You know I agree with a lot of your views about the Bantams Fordy but it's time to get answers about the club's plans for the future (if there are any).

 

Even the normally confident Sparks must be apprehensive of getting it wrong again. I've lost count of how many we've gone through in the last three or four years. It's the proverbial "poisoned chalice".

 

I keep hearing this potential but i'm not sure what it is? Not sure it even exists? I would ask that in another 20 years wheres the fan base of this club coming from?

Bang on. When McCall was asked what the aim was this season he replied along the lines of “we know what the target is in the dressing room amongst the players”. Never once did anyone from the club say the aim was promotion. The transfer activity last summer wasn’t one to get us up. Thinking about it, they probably didn’t think the season would finish so kept the money in the pocket until they realised it probably would, then had to recruit like mad just to stay in the league.
