We have players, who are good players for this level, The issue is , they just are not showing it on a regular basis and revert to the easy option time and again, which generally involves doing the bare minimum, which is no where near enough to achieve promotion.They have to go beyond this , but rarely do.

 

As I keep saying these good players need surrounding with solid L2 capable players to back them up not garbage who they know if they pass to will fk it up.

 

Andy,How many times have we played really well and scraped just through on a goal victory,good teams hammer the opposition and when did we last hammer anyone.

And making matters worse the driving conditions on the M1 coming home were some of the worst I’ve ever driven in. There were cars on their roof and others spun around in the middle lane facing oncoming traffic in monsoon conditions.

Anyway, back to football matters. Kev McDonald should be nowhere near having a chance of this job even until end of season.
Performances haven’t been that much better and recent results considerably worse than under Hughes.

from today's performance, there's not many positives, non at all to be honest. as a city fan, I fear the team bottom than I do the team at the top of the table. Its a constant pattern to balls it up against a team we should be comfortably beating.

My take on this team

Lewis can be great, he can also be shit. He needs to get his shit together sooner rather than later. The lack in confidence in him from the back 4 is beginning to show

Halliday has been the only consistent player for us this season. Always puts a shift in

Stubbs is only decent wifh a decent player alongside him. My hope is said player can be Tomkinson

Taylor. Hes got a decent throw. Thats about it

Platt, meh, not brilliant, not entirely shit either

Ridehalgh. My only satisfaction comes from how his name is pronounced by the home commentators on away games. Get Richards back in

Pattison, decent, but always injured

Smallwood. showing signs. That being said, without him, were fecked

Gilliead. Up with Halliday in terms of stepping up this season. But if were relying on him, no offence to the lad, were in trouble

Pointon - He'l be gone by next summer. Too good for this shite

Odour/Wilson/Tulloch - Flashes of brilliance, but never consistent. Id trade them all for Vernam

Osadabe - Bench player at best. 5 mins of brilliance, 85 mins of utter shite

Chapman - Isnt as good as some people make out to be. Many forget he was shit for half a season last year. That being said, hes better than the rest of our options on the wing, barring potentially Pointon

Walker - Probably the most technically gifted player in the squad, an he runs his bollocks off every game, so I struggle to understand the criticism. I know he isnt getting enough goals or assists, but its hard to do it all yourself seeing as the rest of the team moves like statues

Cook - Needs Oliver back to put a rocket up his ass. He's let himself go a bit an isnt as hungry as he was last year

Smith - Play him up front as part of a front 2 or dont play him at all. Hes not a lone striker an hes not a winger

The commentary mentioned several times how animated Macdonald is and was today, especially in the first. They indicated he was showing frustration as to how the players were performing. Did you see the same?

Watching in iFollow, we simply looked appalling first half. Second was better, but felt like if we were playing anyone other than bottom of the league, we would have been on the end of another Tuesday night score line.
