I normally take the "your fans were quiet" schtick with a pinch of salt, because they're often from teams who brought two men and a dog and squeaked out a rendition of "Sunderland is a shithole" before going silent. In this case, I would agree though. The subdued atmosphere is probably a consequence of where we are and what we've been through. With the greatest of respect, we were playing Man City and Liverpool 18 months ago. It will come though.

We have played way better than that this season and drawn. It's the ability to grind out 3 points when not playing well that is reassuring.

 

Yes it makes it more clinical but also means that every point gained is deserved and fair.
If you go up or down it’s exactly where you should be.
Imagine if we now get relegated on goal difference and this lost point is crucial?

 

Just trying to get my head around your thinking about it being a clear goal and a foot over the line.

It is possible that their fans are wrong as well and the full speed clip makes it look a lot more clear than it was.

Not a criticism as such, more an observation. The teams that i mentioned all went up quite easy from what i remember because they stood out from the rest, you are a good side but don’t stand out like they did. You probably will go up which selfishly is a shame for me because days like today happen very rarely in league 1 and is the reason i would love to be in the championship where these sort of fixtures happen on a regular basis. Back to league 1 normality on Saturday at Rochdale.

 

Didn’t go to the match, but watched it on iFollow, no doubt in my mind it went over line I jumped up straight away. Funny that even the official Sunderland account on twitter is saying it was over the line. I have no idea what the argument is, it was over, doesn’t matter by how much, the rules say if the whole of the ball was over the line it was a goal, simples. If you cannot do the basics, them retire, because we the paying public demand that the officials do their job. If it is too hard then the EFL should help them with technology.

Sheff United were several cuts above anything in the league this season. Sounds churlish given that we’ve lost to both, but I haven’t been hugely impressed by either Sunderland or Portsmouth. Better than us, but that ain’t a huge endorsement given our season. Luton have looked the best side we’ve faced this season, but that was aided by our nonky defending.
