Reading it that the lad Maja may be carrying an injury (maybe a Nahki Wells) to get away in January, and Loovens will miss the game with his red card, we need someone to get stuck into both Cattermole and Power early doors to stop them playing both can be a little hot headed, Sunderland have already drawn 4 of the 10 home games let's make it 5 from 11, I'd be happy with a point.

    Snap!

I think Loovens is backup for them though so won’t be too badly missed.

Either way, as you say, would take a point right now.

Aye, Baldwin and Flanagan are our two first choice CB's. Loovens was just filling in for Flanagan as he picked up a knock. He's back to full fitness now though.

I know it's all if's and but's but with 40,000 Mackems there if we could quieten them with an early goal they may start getting on the players backs.

Been the complete opposite this season mate. We have the most points from a losing position in England's top 4 leagues I believe. The fans' philosophy under the new owners is to get behind the players no matter what. If you can be bothered, watch the Sunderland vs Charlton highlights - 1-0 down after 10 minutes and the Stadium Of Light produced a deafening encouraging roar. Still gives me goosebumps thinking about it.

Just had a look for a clip of this and couldn't find one. This season I think everyone is optimistic though and this is passing onto the players/coaches - even at 3-1 down at 10 men to Portsmouth I felt like we could get something from the game. Keep the faith.

Your home form is not all that, and to be honest I was a little disappointed with your overall performance at Valley Parade, yes you got the three points but the situation we were in at the time I expected a far more convincing win.
Wednesday will be a good guide to how we have improved as a team, Hopkin has certainly got us playing with far more confidence and look like we can actually break teams down going forward, our achilles is our defence and which one will turn up.

Just reading the figure as today at 12;00 the gate was up to 43500 that should make some atmosphere, although one of your guys says sunderland put away fans in "the God's" similar to Newcastle ?.

We've not lost at home yet so we must go into the game with confidence. There's a huge between now between last year when we hadn't won a home game in 364 days - until we won Fulham on the 365th day on 16th December. I'm confused as to where this 'poor home form' has came from as I've seen it a few times on here, are we low in the 'Home games table'?

I agree, we've been scraping wins but we don't get into the position in the league we're in by playing poorly. A wins a win. We played excellently in our last home game vs Rovers though, hitting the woodwork 4 times. One more would have been a football league record iirc as they also hit the bar once. The 2-1 scoreline was probably unfair on us.

It's good to see Bradford picking up a few good results too, just a shame you've started getting some good form before playing us.

Yep, you'll be sat in the heavens - it won't feel as high as Newcastle's however as our stands aren't as steep and the lower set of seats is actually under ground level.

You coming up for the game?

Really excited for this one, nothing to lose with the pressure on Sunderland with the big crowd.

Hopefully Hopkin plays the same system and we go at them from the off, and I'd be confident of at least a point with the way we're playing at the moment.

Never understand the phrase 'Nothing to Lose'. 3 points at stake, so yes we have something to lose. However I would be really happy with a point

Hello mate - sorry, just seen this. Been on the sauce myself this weekend.
Public transport on Boxing Day is hopeless, so either taxis or walking is your best bet. The ground is 10 minutes walk from the city centre, across the Wearmouth Bridge; can't really miss it. There's a free park and ride to the ground from Hylton too.

For drinking, can't really go wrong with pubs like the Cooper Rose or the William Jamesons in town. But if you're looking for something a little different, I would suggest heading down to the seafront Seaburn / Roker. Plenty to eat and drink down there. There's a charity Boxing Day Dip in the sea too, which is usually good for a laugh.

Yes mate never been to the Stadium of Light even in the old league one (now the Championship) or Premiership days, I did go to Roker Park when we beat you in the old Milk Cup or whatever they called it back in the day 1969 Wednesday night I believe, beat you 2-1 on the night Dennis Tueart scoring for Sunderland, next round at West Brom where we got spanked 4-0 :(.

You miss my point. The phrase nothing to lose implies we are just going to turn up, enjoy the day, but expect nothing, result wise. That's all very well if we are playing Chelsea away in the cup, but not the right attitude in a league match with precious points at stake
