No. Cookie is the older fella. I’d be happy with someone else coming in around the 30 mark but no-one too old. Cook, Young, Kav and A.N.Other who is someone who can hold it up abit but Paddy is a wee bit too old for me. (And I didn’t forget about Smith)

Wouldn't look look right if he addressed it "scruffy, clueless looking tramp that can't tie a tie"

What is GA's history in terms of formations? Is 5-3-2 nailed on next season or did he play it because that is how the squad was built?

When he came in he started with a 442/4222.

Any chance we revert back to that given the squad is pretty much a blank canvas now?

I hope not. We should have an alternative formation but 6 wins on the bounce means we’ve got something right at last. All it needs is strengthening.

Looks like a 433 with a sitting DM had been his tried and trusted up until Motherwell. Then started bleeding in the 5 at the back system, dropping a CM for a CB. More often that not towards the end used his 541/343 whatever you want to call it.

Started with that at MK too. So seems like 5 at the back is his move for now? Although how many times has everyone said that Smallwood needs to leggy CMs with him? If we lose Platt and you already have Stubbs, Kelly, Odusina (although id expect him to go) he might then only sign 2 more CBs? I think we need at least 2 more for either system, then transfers are one out one in for defence.

I saw this the other day and just glanced at it. I honestly cannot believe someone is that bored, that they can find the time to knock this up. Sad

But we have 3 already - Young, Smith, and Kav. All have youth on their side plus quite a bit of experience between them, and know where the net is. I don't honestly think we need another forward until at least January, especially if we can't get shut of Oliver

GA has mentioned.a few times this season, how we lacked a ruthless streak in front of goal and our inability to kill teams off. I'll be very suprised if we don't make any additions to the forward line this summer. I also think Smith might end up moving on

We need a decent keeper as back up to Walker.

A bit like Lewis in his first season, Walker played a blinder but much like Lewis, if his form dips we've no real competition for the #1 shirt

Young ....if he stays will add the ruthless approach we need ,,,,,the incentive for him is to have another good season /half and then a major move for him,,,,also his assists were pretty good too

It looks like a 5-2-3 to me and as long as Smallwood has a proper midfield partner, I say stick with it. The 3 certainly suits our attacking options, and right wing back Halliday is our best player.

Cook, Kavanagh, Young, Smith and Ibbitson looks like decent striker options to me - providing they all stay.

Its defence overhaul and a couple more MF options that are key.

I agree at the moment but I've got this feeling that Young will go and if it was me I'd be happy to move Smith on.

Palmer Holden was a big lad if I remember so might be decent (and cheap) as a back up although that's only based on seeing him once so I'm happy to admit that it's not based on much.

I'm not overly keen on Walker, I think he's had a pretty easy ride so far and in the last few games cost us goals and chances by being hesitant to come and collect.

I accept that he's done well and he'll have a lot of support on the board but for me he's absolutely bang average at everything.

Having said that, there aren't many weak points so perhaps bang average will be good enough for next year.

    5 3 2 wasn't it?

Smallwood sitting with Walker and Pointon slightly more advanced and playing off Cook and Kavanagh?

Well I thought it was Cook with Pointon and Kavanagh either side, and Smallwood and Walker in the middle, but it was a while ago now haha

Absolutely right. There's a huge difference between 5-3-2 and 5-2-3. We haven't the wide players for the latter and Cook needs someone alongside him. All our recent success came with 5-3-2.
