Some of our deluded fanbase thought we were signing Sharp 5 years ago along with Kieffer More.

We couldn't afford Pat Sharp let along Billy Sharp.

To be fair Pat Sharp would be an improvement.

If we miss out on Pat Sharp, I'd suggest Billy Pearce. He knows the city very well, loves performing in front of a packed house and would entertain the fans no end.

Burns unit bet my arse. He signs a contract extension at Rotherham doesn’t he.

How would it be debate over if he wasn’t in L2 lol. You’re taking it to the extreme and chatting bobbins. He’s winning promotion to the a championship. He’s not a championship player but rotherham will offer him something given he’s played a big part in their promotion.

He’ll also get offers from other League One clubs and cheeky offers from your Wrexhams, offering silly money for one last big payday on a /two three year deal etc - he’s 31 soon after the new season starts.

As said before, how about offering something interesting to the discussion, or piping down with your sarcasm?……. still waiting for your own list of realistic transfer targets to enlighten us all. Must be four days or so now……..still waiting.

Unless there is an influx of cash then there is limitations to what Hughes can expect with incoming signings. It's why we were never realistically in for the likes of Keiffer Moore, Paul Mullin etc . And with it looking likely that Stockport and Wrexham coming up then they will be targeting proven players in this division and above in League 1.

i agree Roger. I am expecting us to use the loan market more this summer, seen as Adams refused to. It might be younger lads sent out in the summer though, rather than the likes of Walker, who may think they can sneak into the team over the summer until falling out of favour by January.

It's where we've benefitted greatly before dropping back into league 2. The likes of Cullen and Pickford etc were the class we were desperate for although it's an unknown risk as all the ones that did well for had never really played at first team level.
We need to forget about players who now have a track record, we're not in a financial position to offer the incentives needed to sign them. Like you allude to, for me it's how Hughes uses his influence from a higher level to bring in the quality we need to add.

Be great if we can tap into West Ham again. Let’s hope this is where Sparky can put his reputation to great use for us.

Doesn’t look like the Irish lad we were supposedly in for has made an appearance for Rotherham so might be worth a re-look in the summer whether loan or perm

I believe the West Ham link was with regards Parky and Terry Westley who Parky has close contact with, that said I expect Sparkie to bring loan players in, he's commented as much in recent pre and post match interviews, saying he still has good contact with previous clubs he been at.
Watching that shower who got their arses kicked at Liverpool Man Unt will need all the up and coming talent for their first team squad ;).

It is potentially a huge area of improvement and one I'm sure Hughes will be looking at. This season has shown that Premier League clubs are willing to loan some of their more talented youngsters to clubs at this level. You only need to look at the impact Elliot Anderson has had at Bristol Rovers to realise the value of it. Louis Barry has scored at a rate of one in two for Swindon as well. Hughes' reputation and the added test of loaning youngsters to a club with a big crowd surely makes us a good option.

There are also the more clever loans from club's elsewhere in in the EFL such as Cameron Dawson at Exeter & Josh Hawkes at Tranmere. The latter had a good impact and the loan led to a permanent signing in January, and you'd imagine the former might also lead to a permanent deal in the summer. It was a tactic Parky used frequently to get a good look at players and potentially sell the club to them. Andrew Davies, Will Atkinson, Ricky Ravenhill & Andy Halliday are examples of players that signed on loan and then made it permanent - pretty sure there were others as well.

Cracking examples @Aireboro Bantam@Aireboro Bantam, Elliot Anderson loaned to Bristol Rovers in January 18 games 6 goals from midfield ours wont get that between them, Louis Barry as you say 10 games 5 goals from a winger again only joining in January, I have no doubt Sparkie will use the loan system but we also need players of our own to complement these loans.

Liverpool were Liverpool and the opposition know they are in for a roll up your sleeves battle from the whistle, a goal down after 6 minutes suggests they weren't up for the fight, loved the way Gary Neville was getting worked up about simple things most football fans take for granted certainly footballers should, then the comment about Ralf Rangnick knowing whats going on but not prepared to comment, our sympathy's are with you Gary..............not

The other lad we were linked with Luke Charman from Darlington who ended up at Rochdale appears to have struggled to adjust to life in the Football League if his stats are anything to go by, yet to score in 16 appearances

People tend to place bets on things they believe will happen.

You’ve nit picked my posts and ignored the bits that didn’t fit your argument. Can only presume you just fancied an argument for the sake of it after my tongue-in-cheek jokes about 25 year uber fans the other day.

Enjoy rest of your week mate, this discussion is going nowhere given you read only the bits you want, so I’m done .
