Atmospheres are more tame now, generally. The football was tame rather that exciting too, even relative to league 2 standard.

I just don't subscribe to any notion that our matchday fans are a problem.

It certainly didn't need any hindsight to recognise that that substitution was madness. I was going nuts about it at the time.

Back to more sensible posting (oh be quiet... :joy:)

Anyway, as of today it doesn't feel like the recruitment is that balanced.

We seem to have a lot of defenders but lack wide left sided defenders.

We don't quite seem to have the attacking balance right either. We have quite a lot of central attackers - Walker, Pattison, McDonald Osadebe and lack wide attackers. Chapman... Will he play much or be banned for half the season? Can he get to 10 goals and assists anyway???

I think Oduor was supposed to be our left wing back but I don't think Hughes fancies him as a defender so will have the impotent but safe Gilliead on that side. Oduor could become the next Young and not really fit in anywhere. Ironic because in last season's formation he would have been good to bring in after Chapman's injury.

Let's see how the first couple of games go but the current recruitment doesn't seem to balanced to me.

And still didn't get all three points, I think it was after the Gillingham game he allowed the players to make the calls with regards playing out from the back or being more direct there was certainly a change during the run in, as @Park bantam@Park bantam posted many times.
I find it strange that at the end of the home game against Gillingham although we subbed Banks and brought on (a big unit on) in Platt we still concede from a set piece, yet Lo and behold Hughes does exactly the same thing at Carlisle he's takes of one of our only attacking options off and brings the big lad on, I believe that disrupted our two CD Stubbs and Crichlow as they were all caught ball watching for Barclay to nip in and score with a header, I cant understand why he did it because unlike Gillingham who had caused us all sorts of problems in the air with their set pieces I don't remember Carlisle being anywhere near as dominant at set pieces to warrant that change.

NOT the causation / trigger for sure, but it doesn’t help and only makes it worse…a vicious circle!

The style of play last year was the main cause of lack of atmosphere. Give the rowd something to shout about and they will respond. We are promised that we will be on the front foot this year let’s see

If any poor player cannot take a bit of stick as well as praise from our large crowds, then they shouldn't be here.

Nonsense that we fans caused the team to drop points.

I thought we made a big noise about only signing players who had a tough temperament and could hack the big crowd expectations?
A couple of boos and a bit of adverse crowd reaction and they can’t cope and fold like a pack of cards.

Quite right Hughes made that comment several times about bringing in players who were not only better than what we had but they could also deal with 18/20,000 attendances, mentally strong I believe was his quote.

I think it was more a case of lack of confidence in what they were being asked to do

Agree to a point. The reverse logic would say that 16K fans singing you on should give us 1 or 2 goals before half time.

However I think there is some merit in saying a significant minority of L2 players are not prepared or experienced, whatever they say to the "gaffer," or the T&A, to be playing at home in front of 16K fickle home fans, every other week.

Word coming from Rotherham is he was taking too long on their offer and they are going for a different target.

Plymouth, Hull, Blackburn, Bolton & Cardiff all believed to have contacted Sharp at one point this summer too but no news on if they are still interested.

On Sharp, he was back at Bramhall Lane this week to record a video with Ndiaye where he did some voice over about the importance of the number 10 and at the end of the video he hands the number over to Ndiaye..... Ndiaye has left to go to Marsielle this evening.

Rovrum lost patience with Sharp not making his mind up on where he wants to play next season
