Halifax would be quality, they are who Harrogate try to be.

You won’t have long to see York back. Nice easy fixture for me

Dont think it will be a long wait until York are back. New owners are spending big.

Crawley, Sutton and FGR are just awful journeys. I like a simple life - I dont want anyone in our division further than Milton Keynes thank you very much.

Id be delighted iF L2 became North and South again TBH.

Yes, made 1 or 2 interesting signings this summer. Dan Pybus and Luke James were there last season.

Financially I think most clubs would as well.

Not being around when the leagues were north / south, how did promotion and relegation work back then?

Financially I think I would! Although Id probably spend more as too many tempting away days!

A bit before my time Im afraid so I cannot answer but I can only assume 2 up from each league and 4 down from Div 3??? Teams then put into north/south based on location.

Third division North and South was mentioned before.
In these economically challenging times it makes perfect sense, who wants to travel to Colchester, Forest Green or Crawley for mid week games or even on a Saturday?
The travelling cost for clubs must be astronomical, 30 odd members of staff to accommodate overnight several times a season is no longer reasonable or sustainable.

City V Avenue , especially at Avenue , wasnt half spicy. Didn’t see their fans at VP all that much but it seemed like Canterbury estate and Great Horton pubs came out en mass to greet us.
Puts Leeds V City in the shade. I’m sure Dave @Bronco@Bronco will tell you?

Went with a couple of my York supporting mates to the game at Kings Lynn a couple of seasons back. They took a few!

Ive always questioned why York arent a bigger club than they should be. Its got a decent population and is quite an expensive place to live - folk have money round those parts which can only be good for attendances etc IF the football is appealling. I can only assume its another area that Leeds mop up the fan base.

There was only 1 promotion place from each league and 2 relegated from division 2

There's that and it's a big horse racing area. However a YO postcode is not an LS one, so they shouldn't really mop up all fans going to Leeds really. Cheltenham is similar but on a smaller scale. I live in a YO postcode and I haven't seen many Leeds shirts, but a lot more York ones.

It also speaks volumes for his integrity that he chose not to sell to the snake oil salesmen when he had the chance.
Folk slag him off but we could have been exactly where Crawley are now!

So based on that, a team could play in the north one season, but if two northern teams came down, you might find yourself in the southern half?

The clubs would never go back to that, even the non league National league is non regional. It would be the same Northern teams playing each other year after year ,and to get two clubs promoted from North and South the Championship would have to agree to four relegation spots. In the old third division north days only the champions got promoted so teams just stagnated in the 3rd North or South. It’s players wages that cripple clubs in our division not travelling costs. We need to get ourselves promoted and start playing the likes of Portsmouth, Charlton again.

Looks like it. If you take it even further, after a few seasons the whole of the southern section could be full of Northern teams or vice versa?!?!?
