Bollocks to the lot that are there. They're not good enough. Plan for next season, now. Because we're a fair way from being good enough.

I'm behind every word hes said. Quality over quantity.

You're fooling yourself if you think promotion is a given next season.

I understand what you're saying that you don't think they will react well to any additional pressure but herein lies the problem, they've not reacted well to any sort of pressure. Some these players are closing in on two seasons without giving any sort of reaction, first to a relegation and then secondly it looks like we aren't having a reaction to completely bottling this season.

If they can't react to being made redundant then they never will and aren't welcome at City for me.

Totally disagree with this, to be blunt this lot need no more pussyfooting around - I know you could argue they have not performed for so many reasons (both on and off field) but the basic truth is they have, on the whole, not shown enough to deserve to be here next season so I have no problem with SM comments. Those with anything about them will respond in the right way to what he has said but lets be honest, if you ask most City fans who they really want us to keep you can probably count them on one hand. I also disagree with your comments on those contracted being on easy street, for those who might not want to stay I have heard discussions are already in place and I fully expect some of them not to be with us next season.
Our club needs a shake up in so many areas as documented on other threads but re the players, SM is NOT saying this in the press because he thinks it is what we want to hear - he is saying it because it is one of the fundamental things that HAS to happen for us to start to move forward

Sorry Fordy but look at Newports first goal, that's not JR is it? That is just basic football and no matter what work you do in training there has to be a natural instinct to go pick the man up. I was fine with this group when we were not pretty but grinding results out, but we don't even look like we have that sort of resilience in us anymore.

I'm not sure why people keep dodging the truth. We're going backwards and McCall knows this. It takes time to implement your plans and then a willing chairman and CEO to back that plan. Pains me to say it but if it means I can see forward progress then this season can do one. It's clear what we need, it's not necessarily a full clear out. Just a plan for now that sees decent players fitting a system. For example the Wembley playoff team under McCall, wouldn't say it was the best set of individuals. But they all knew their role (well at least until McCall went all worry about the opposition), we had the quality general in Cullen and the quality outlet of Marshall. Would anyone seriously say a back four of Mezza, NKP, Vince and the character would have been good enough individually? Well it certainly worked, we played some great footy that season. So let's not be silly looking years down the line. Plan now. Get rid of the weaknesses, less shite and touch more quality.

I totally agree with SMc on the size of the squad and the quality. He has not named any individual player that I aware of, he has stated the obvious. The player who wish to play for Bradford City need to get a grip, and also show that they have the level of skill and aptitude for the job. Stuart doesn’t say working hard and having the desire are all you need, he is saying don’t be a footballer or anybody if you can’t deliver as he sees that as a given. He is also saying no more excuses, don’t feel sorry for yourself, take responsibility. I agree. If you get upset by what he has said, then maybe being a professional footballer is not your thing.

I have watched pathetic performances of the club I have supported for many a long year these last two or so years, I say no more. If SMc wants a smaller squad that is just fine by me. What I want to see are players who love playing football at this club and recognise it is a privilege. I want them to play as a cohesive team/squad.

    This does run very deep.

The club has not been managed properly, boardroom and team management. From an ownership point of view since Rupp/Rahic bought the club and from team management perspective since Parkinson left.

We have had mostly downs with some ups but the decision making in both these areas has been poor overall.

Several fans were saying exactly that after our Wembley defeat, the more we found out about Rahic his running of the club made it very hard for anyone who took over as coach/manager to do their job without interference from a man who was quite happy to tell anyone who'd listen he knew football, had coaching badges, and had a scouting system in Europe.
Although Rupp has said he will do all he can to put the club back to where we were before THEY took over I'd prefer him to sell the club as it seems to most his heart really isn't in the club or its fans.

    Stuart is 100% correct.

Talk is cheap though. No manager has ever said they want quantity over quality.

Like Bowyer saying he wanted to have pacey, strong, athletic players it's easy to say and not quite so easy to do.

I am honestly not sure if he would Park, I think SM has been a bit shocked at the lack of quality and top heavy playing staff at the club (I know he would have known this before he returned, particularly on the numbers) - our club has suffered through deathly silence and apparent lack of leadership for too long and I have no problem with Stuart telling our under performers exactly what he thinks in public. As I say, some of our shrinking violets will probably shrink yet further in the next 12 games but hopefully some will seize the challenge and to be honest they are the only ones I am bothered about going forward

You're 100% right it is basic football but how many times have we seen basic mistakes. To get rid of basic mistakes you have to care!

Reeves- will move to a div 1 club.
Akpan - will move to div 1 or 2 club
Wood - could move to div 1 or championship club
Vaughan- already at a div 1 club
AOC - move back to Scotland or another club

    I could go on!

The problem is the club is ran in a mess. When Edin went the players and I suppose fans were waiting for Rupp & Rhodes to kick the club forward. We held on to Bowyer far too long the got rid on 2 quality forwards for this league.

McCall comes in and players like AOC can't cope.

The players are mirroring the club.. no drive or hunger and still waiting... waiting to leave now!

Got to love you @Fordy117@Fordy117 one minute you say "If for example we played Reeves, Cooke and Devitt as a midfield 3 I don't think many would complain", then say Reeves sideways passing, isn't that a contradiction ?

You are correct that there is some criticism of the new strikers (and other players), often with little to back it up. Quite frankly unless strikers are scoring at a ratio of 1:3, then I think City’s vociferous posters will criticise them.

I actually agree with McCall, about the current squad. It is too bloated and there are too many players with similar skill sets, prone to injury, seemingly disinterested. McCall is also correct about the number of players used and the fact that they do not get enough game time. I would add that playing with very familiar players, adds understanding and as such cohesion.

Having said that did he need to go public about the plans, in respect of reducing the squad. Not sure that was helpful. Action speaks louder than words, and sometimes they do not need to be said.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Hiwula return next season. Stuart mentioned in the t&a today about how he scouted him for a while before signing him and he looks to be leaving coventry on a free in the summer.

It probably already been said in private by Bowyer and Mccall and we have seen the response. A large group of players have shown themselves to be spineless with no leadership skills making the same errors again and again as many as possible need to be shown the door.
