He's 19 years old and in loan, he can't replace Wyke - compliment him, sure, but that's far too much to ask from a teenager.

 

Would have been alright to have in the building though, it's a long old season and wouldn't be a bad player to have as a back-up or another option... wouldn't want to be gambling on him as our min striker for the season though if Wyke was gone too

 

He would have made sense for that sort of money - can't see why not really.

What's silly is people already looking at teenage boys and saying Wyke is already replaced!

Yes, very true. Forgot about him. But, seen as we wanted Dennis on 31 January and never signed him and since then sold Poleon, which of the 2 is he replacing? Do we still expect 1 more plus and other if Wyke leaves?

 

Personally I think we need another 2 proper strikers, 3 if Wyke leaves... very lightweight upfront at the moment

Miller may be a decent signing but to suggest we don’t need anyone else is simply crazy talk. And to claim Wyke isn’t actually a that good? He has to be on the wind up

 

I’ve never really warmed to Wyke I think because Hanson was very one dimensional wyke coming in offering something different he is over rated by many and a million for him I would snap their hand off

There are many strikers knocking about who would do well here if we spend some cash it’s one area worth opening the wallet for

There are not to many good strikers available at the moment which is why McNulty and Eisa and Wyke are fetching the money they are. Any money should be usd to improve the whole squad which is what we have been doing

 

If we can get half of what we paid for McCartan, we could sign a half decent forward. That's the sort of money Dennis went for, it's just we're saddled with last season's bad deals.

I really what fee we got for Poleon... Imagine we made a substantial loss on him, percentage-wise, so surely we can take a similar hit on players that have failed to perform like Shay and Jones.

 

So your plan to replace Wyke is what exactly?

For me, selling him is a terrible idea.

 

He has twelve months on his contract if he won’t sign a new deal I don’t see any other alternative use the money to strengthen with a good loan striker

Getting a million pound for Wyke would be more than good business

 

Not if we we don't reinvest the money on another player.

The only way it's good business if we end up with MORE, long term.

If we waste that money on a loan player, we haven't made a bean long term.

Exactly Jon. I'm a bit confused that so many seem to think spending a large proportion of Wyke money on a loan player makes good sense when at the start of last week, there were quite a lot of people arguing signing loan players like Miller and Payne is not the way forward because it doesn't fit 'the model'.
