I agree with a lot of what your goodself and Kevin1954 say about the situation and we don't seem to be able to attract someone with serious finances and interest in football to take the club forward but that may not always be the case.
It was once " little old " AFC Bournemouth and once " little old " Brentford. In fact it was only last night I was watching the highlights of City v AFC Bournemouth playing out 2:2 draw to get promoted from the League we are in at present. Life is depressing down at Valley Parade at the moment but things can soon change.
On the subject of those highlights 4 4 2 ah! Barry Gallagher, Mike Lester, Dave Staniforth and Les Chapman across the midfield (Mega on the bench), Bobby and Daisy McNiven up top.......if only

Could go two ways - 1, Hughes picks a team with half of them new and they don't know each other and we're 2 down in 15 minutes. 2, one or more of the new players have a blinder and we run away with a win.

Not sure I agree. Tonight is the start of seeing how Hughes tries to integrate all these new signings into a team with a certain playing style.

The one that worries me most is left back. Our defense has been pretty solid and they've played consistently as a back five for quite some time. I am worried that essentially two new players (because Hughes said they'll both probably play) are going to be in that position playing with players they don't know in a style they haven't tried in a match situation when both are short of games. It's a clear weakness that I'm sure Stockport will be pressurising.

I'm with you on this, not sure tonight can be seen as a benchmark to judge the team when said team is likely to include at least 2 brand new players to that team and possibly another couple whose first action for us only came at Wimbledon and in Nevers case, was nothing more than a cameo.

People don't realise actually how much of a risk changing a manager actually is, when a DoF isnt in place. every single swap in manager has led to an entirely different style. Even bowyer said it would take 2-3 windows for his style to come in. And like you said the fact we are still bringing a fair few ins into the club tells me he hasn't got the squad he wants yet!

No matter where we end up this season (personally I think its a PO exit atm) we back him.

All I can see tonight is a panning. That's not a negative attitude, it's reality. We have two wins in seven and they have something like ten in twelve. We have Oliver upfront, they have Wooton, Sarcevic & Madden. It's going to be a watershed in our season this one. Pull off a win and we can go onto to chase down Northampton, get panned and we could end up 12th by 5pm on Saturday with no game being played.
