Can you seriously imagine feeling confident if we DO make the playoffs? I’ve watched every game this season, and I’ve not see us control and dictate a game. I’ve not been confident that we’ve got the game in our pocket and can see out the win (once in the lead). I’ve also not seen us take the game to the oppo, and build a spell of pressure playing great football, that leads to “it’s only a matter of time” moment.

It’d be a nightmare watching us in a knock out game. I promised my boy we’d come over to Wembley if we get that far. More than happy to do that, but on recent showing, I’ll be going elsewhere in Spring.

 

Which is great news. Hughes sounded worrying 'McCall' earlier in the season when he seemed to think that good footie is the way to promotion in L2.

 

yeah for every point against a team 10th there is a loss to a team sat 24th that’s why folk are so angry on here ........... teams that tend to get promoted normally beat up on poor teams and look to pick up points away from home against form teams ........... so please I’m sorry if I ain’t getting all giddy because I will put money on that another Rochdale performance is just around the corner .......... we did nothing to hurt them tonight and that goes for a lot of teams that we have faced this season ......... honestly you would have thought Hughes had pulled off a master stroke in getting a point at Stockport but that performance was like many others we’ve had to endure this season ........... hardly any shots at goal no creativity a poor midfield ......... it’s poor and I don’t care how you try and dress it up

No pace on the pitch is a worry but even more worrying, how shattered do we always look? Eisa and Oliver looked absolutely done about 65/70 in. We've even had a weekend off and look so tired after about an hour.

 

We can't all be agreeing that it's the 20th worst midfield in the league and the team is rubbish blah blah.

Not certain which teams you feel have a better defensive set up - I'm not talking about rampant creativity, that's for the returning Walker / Banks etc to sort out.

But you wallow in pessimism if you want.

 

A degree of exasperation was expressed at that point.

 

This morning people were talking about the three Stockport strikers they had one more chance than us over the match.plus we had a good shout for a penalty. We took a very good point tonight and yes we have to follow that up now with some wins especially at home.

 

Our defence has been good and dependable all season really. Tonight was the most we've been under pressure defensively since the Orient and Northampton games. The pressure was created by the formation not giving cover to the full backs. Balls wide and then deep crosses are the way to create chances against it. The formation change has made us more vulnerable and has resulted in us creating less chances. It needs to change or we won't be winning many games.

 

Yeah, and we've got the best 3 midfielders in the entire league. Put that in yer pipe all you shtty teams in the autos and smoke it.

 

sadly we all know what’s coming next .......... more of the same performances like Rochdale .........

 

Its entitlement, with a hint of moaning purely for the sake of moaning. if stockport go up would you say then? Current league position is no indicator of future performance. People have caught wise to Gillinghams recruitment- do you think they are entitled to lose every single game except against rochdale as they are in 23rd? Even though in the last 5 games played they have won two on the bounce and are one of two teams to do so in the league?

 

Don't disagree at all. I was one of those arguing that the system change wasn't contributing to us winning - it was us scoring early in those matches

 

Exactly you tell truth and you get comments your talking crap, and told to get a grip.

 

It's because "the truth" has no context and isn't grounded in any way.

Fans have to take into account where we are, the standard needed in this division and who we are playing.

Instead, we've just keep two clean sheets away against the two on form teams - yet you'd think we'd drawn at home to the bottom two.

I'm not someone who uses past matches to judge the current one. Too many on these boards come into these matches with a negative mindset and then spend the next 90 minutes proving they were correct.

It's laughable as some of those criticising this very good point - were busy saying we'd get stuffed before the match started.

 

Its not like we were at home to a Sunday league side…

The turgid display was by design. So no worries from me. Just people on here underestimating stockport really..

 

I don't think many are critical of the point earned but more the woeful use of the ball when we had possession and the complete lack of pace or creativity

 

That is absolutely spot on. If we hadn't picked up those early away points we would be nowhere near. And in all honesty, a few of those performances we shouldn't have picked up points!! People did say it at the time as well.

We have barely been convincing all season. At times we are slow, ponderous and lack creativity. Our set pieces are absolutely appalling and create minimal or next to no chances. Today we couldn't even take throw ins properly!! Stockport started to create a spell of pressure from their set pieces and crosses. We do not put teams under pressure and we barely seem to knock them off their stride like they do. We are not strong physically and get bullied. And boy, where would we be if Cook hadn't stepped up to the plate...even if he can't play

 

I never said that. Please learn to understand a statement. I said that "midfield three", i.e. as a collective. Not individually.
