Always enjoy my visits to VP, first visit about 1970.Love the walk down Manningham Lane although it’s not as eventful as it used to be, thought it was a decent game considering the conditions. Fantastic support from your lot and it begs the question if you were top of the league how high your attendances would get to. Yep always one if not the most looked forward to away days.

Any of them on North Parade might be better options, you're a 20 minute walk from the ground at City Vaults. Up on North parade, all are child friendly on match days and only 5/10 minutes from the ground.

Don't bother with the Bradford Arms, the young 'un might end up scarred for life!

No come on let’s be brutally honest…..as soon as leaving the M606 any kids will be scarred for life. They’ll think they’ve arrived in the Gaza Strip

Considering the clashes between your lads and ours in the old days its good to see the older lot still in touch and meeting up regular, great memories of my trips to VP, got locked up the night we dared to venture into the Bradford End , 1980 I think ……scary

    Happy but mad days.
Oh how the yoof would be Olympic sprinters in those days.
It seems madness looking back but, it was all part and parcel then.
Stockport away always seemed to be a Friday night game.
If you got to the ground unscathed that was a result.

Daft young men that have aged into daft older men.
As you say more family oriented nowadays and, all the better for it.

Never lose your sense of humour mate, although having a sense of humour has to be a big part of why we have watched Bradford City for so many years.

Ah yes, the good old 70's and 80's fixtures with Stockport... Well, there lies some brutal stories to tell :)

Different times now, any bars on North parade is fine to drink, they'll be busy with City fans, however no-one will bother you, other than to chat friendlily regarding our respective clubs current fortunes etc ...

Only difference is that Bradford tunnels are full of smackheads.

I believe they played Friday night because Saturdays the police would be out in numbers at Old Trafford not to much Main Road as they were down with us in the lower league for a few years, as you say all part of the era we were daft young men.
My grandad used to tell me of the era of gang fighting in various areas of Bradford and sometime city's years before, of course the years of the "mods & rocker" facing up to each other, past history and football is a far better place for it far more family orientated now adays.

I remember going to Maine Road to watch City back in 87 or 88.
We left the station only to be met by some Stockport lads who we tagged along with. Jesus! Them lads were a handful.

It was Wednesday August 30 1980, I can assure you we entered the corner opposite the midland road side, where the police building was…10 seconds ? a little longer although not much longer we knew we were going to get 2nd prize.
