FFP doesn’t apply to L2, SCMP does. I think you can put money in as equity, so if that’s the case you could issue one £0.01 share and sell it for £40m.

Newcastle United I’m looking at firmly at you here.

Loopholes, workarounds and creative thinking is all that's needed. Other clubs improve infrastructure etc. With far lower budgets than us so anything is possible IF herr Rupp really wants it to be. Buy the ground and some proper training facilities. The players may then just have the chance of an injury free season. Football clubs just dont make money at this level and be successful. The problem is most definitely a lack of investment

Sustainable could be living until the end of the season without spending a penny over budget. Signing players on one year deals and starting a fresh squad every summer. Like we have done for a decade or more. It’s not worked well unless your aim is a somewhat Calvinistic vision of at least we have a football club.

Sustainable could be sticking to a playing wage budget and buying a Tshimanga, Wyke or a Stockton for £250k and then selling him a year later for a profit using the money to fund a training centre or stadium upgrade. Like Andy Holt at Accrington. He’s doing a good job there on crowds of 3,000 without pissing away money.

The summer after losing to Millwall there was a story about Bradley Dack wanting to come to City but we didn’t buy him. He went to Blackburn for £750k and a season or two later he was being touted for £10m+. The wheels have come off his career since then, but I think that’s the sort of sustainability City should be aiming for. Rahic knew it but he was completely out of his depth and signed some rubbish.

The McBurnie money could have been used for a new start and a new way of going about the football club. Instead it’s more of the same. A year to year existence of getting by.

There is a saying that you need to speculate to accumulate. Not to go reckless but a little bit would be a good start

Just seen this on twitter. Our regression graph under Rupp's tenure will be scary

Of course using money we do have much better is an absolute priority. But for all the transfers like the one you quote that are a success there is another flop so it’s the equivalent of gambling. What is needed is a much better scouting system. As for the McBurnie money we have just come through COVID where bills still had to be paid

Gamble you mean. However the way Lawn and Rhodes worked was good up the budget to give yourselves a better chance as long as there is means to balance up later

It's a bit annoying, because the one time we tried this, we got it right.

Nahki went for £1.5m (or whatever it actually was), then we bought Wyke for £250,000 and sold him to Sunderland for £400,000.

All right, you take the wages out and maybe we didn't make any profit for Wyke overall, but he was only here for less than 18 months; that should have left the initial £250,000 to reinvest again, even if Wyke didn't boost our transfer kitty even further.

Sadly, whenever we make a sale, we seem to need to make over £1 million profit or we simply don't see any of that money reinvested.

But had we bought another prospect with the Wyke money (which we should have), history might be very different.

    EDIT:

I suppose the argument is we used the Wyke money on... Eoin Doyle...

Nah sounds like to me the money isn’t reinvested if we need to make over a million. Sounds like it’s gone in to people’s pockets.

This is the thing of using bollocks words like SUSTAINABILITY! It just means that the owner won’t be putting hands in pocket and if so he wants his money back.

    GET RUPP OUT!

This word sustainability. What exactly does it mean for Bradford City? Is it a case of looking to be in the black every season? Is it sustainability over a longer term period? Is the plan to basically use what we bring in every season and use that accordingly. Because sustainability can mean more than just balancing the books. Look at Accrington for example. A fair whack of investment in facilities and infrastructure in the short term with the aim of being sustainable on the back of those facilities. They could have chosen to stick the money received for the likes Kayden Jackson in the bank for a rainy day but instead chose to invest in the future of the club. But then that takes an owner who actually gives enough of a shit about the football club to put a long term plan in place.
As it stands we have no long term plan to give the best possible chance of long term survival. We talk of Lawn and Rhodes making us sustainable when in fact it was the unique success of Phil Parkinson that made that possible. Take away the two cup runs and Wells and that sustainability is non existent. As it stands we have no cash cow like Nahki Wells or McBurnie and those cup runs will not be seen again.
Sustainability doesn't mean debt free but there has to be something invested in to make it debt free in the long term rather than relying on a unique cup run.

Out of interest why do you support Rupp? You’ve never said just try mock others who genuine reasons for why he’s been a poor owner. So come on give an actual opinion for once. Since he took over what’s improved about the club? The manager we have? The infrastructure? The league position? There must be some reason you defend Rupp and mock fellow fans. I genuinely can’t see it and don’t give the old rubbish who else will buy is because that’s not a reason not to criticise someone or want better.

@wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler make sure when you see Mr Satiability Ryan that we want to see the full accounts this year as promised. No hiding like he likes doing. Hopefully, no boring soundbites either.

Edit - That means proper full accounts - P&L account, Balance Sheet, cash, Debt analysis, full notes including Related Transactions etc for the two companies - Bradford City Football Club and BC Bantams. Abbreviated accounts with selected extracts as produced last year doesn't constitute full accounts

Let’s be honest most clubs but Bury who are in the football league have survived over 100 years, spending a bit on a quality player or off field investment every season won’t ruin us. How a business that doesn’t invest stands still and a business that stands still actually moves backwards as the competitors are moving forward, hence why we’ve seen such a regression. Rupp isn’t the only one who hasn’t invested, but he’s been the only one capable and who have good talk when he came in through him mouthpiece. Having to talk about fans raising money for hand dryers when your owner sold a company for 350 million euros is indefensible butter it up as you wish.

Absolutely. It has been down to, so is now up to, Herr Rupp. If you dont want to invest and give BCFC the club it deserves then do us all a huge favour and get out now!

The WAGMI episode has blown away this argument that 'nobody wants us'.
It really is down to Rupp now to invest and grow the club or sell up.

As fans, we need to be prepared to vote with our feet at season ticket time.
8000 season ticket holders would send a very clear message.

You’ve more chance of Theo Robinson ending up league top scorer this season than getting that Fordy

Why don't YOU challenge Mr Sustainability? Instead of bitching in the background and clicking on like to any comment criticising Adams, Sparks or Rupp.
