Agreed, I really don’t trust Gent and Sparks with more money . However, I do think we need more money to attract better.

Hopefully with the mythical additions suggested it will be an experienced DOF who can spend it wisely.

Byway I don’t think it will be extra it will be to make up the shortfall from ST sales to bring us in line with what we have today.

Interesting if true, appointing PJ it's a Bradford Thing not for me.

The club desperately needs an identity to build around, it's what we've missed since rupp bought the club. The ideal is if a DOF can come in and determine a style of play, recruit staff and players around that and build on it continually. Unfortunately with these two at the helm we may well get a DoF but he'll be hindered by budget and interference in the name of sustainability for sustainability's sake.

Though I guess even that would be preferable to the current regime of recruiting from the cesspit and praying the turd turns into a diamond

Out of interest who are the would be candidates? Let's assume it's not Jewell, and Barry Fry isn't coming :grinning: , who would be a good appointment? Personally I have no idea. But if we are to appoint a DOF to shape the footballing side of the club, it is arguably a more critical appointment than the manager.

I hope its not Ryans bum chum from Peterborough. I should imagine that he's been in Sparks's ear throughout this whole shambles.

It would not surprise me in the slightest if Sparks tries to bring Stuart back. Those season tickets won't sell themselves.

Stuarts is always welcome at VP but DOF surely not

Oh absolutely, love him to bits but no way would I want to see him as DoF. We need someone with zero connections to the club imo, a completely fresh pair of eyes who isn't going to be afraid to come in and tell some home truths.

It's a huge appointment in the Grand scheme of things.
Like I said a massive opportunity to freshen up the club.
My obvious worry about the appointment is the man tasked to do the hiring isn't exactly renowned for his success rate when making major decisions.

In reality this club needs millions in investment. To buy back and upgrade the stadium, to rectify the pitch, to buy lighting for the pitch, to upgrade or purchase a purpose built training facility, to recruit and implement the right backroom staff not just for the footballing side, to recruit the right players. Can you see Rupp putting that amount of money into the club? He didn’t buy the club to move us forward, he saw the model of cup runs and promotions paying for everything. He certainly wasn’t expecting to spend money. 8 years in and we own as much as now as we did when he walked through the door. Together with Sparks they’ve stripped back everything to remain sustainable, whilst operating a quantity over quality recruitment policy, in the hope that the manager might fall lucky. To quote Adams “small club on the inside”.

As others have said, chucking a couple of extra million at the playing side won’t guarantee success on the pitch. Leaving it to Sparks to come up with the plan is akin to madness. Rupp hasn’t learnt a thing.

    There's the problem
If the DOF is answerable to Sparks it won't work
We are going nowhere under him

    Great post.

For the size of club we are (as in, not big really), where we are ( competing in a broadly equal division) having a disinterested owner is killing us. Simple as that.

Yes a bit of investment might help, but without a strategic direction from the top, we will continue to fail. I would have Darren MacAnthony in a heartbeat to get the club moving in the right direction again.

Morning guys it’s match day . We do need to win today and step up. I do think we need to get behind our team. Regarding the comment from Rupp I feel we need to persevere until the season ends. If no improvements massive changes will be required Rupp will need to step up or depart.

I'm not buying into either Rupp or Sparks ethos I've done what I've done for many years and bought a season ticket to follow the club I love spending many years of enjoyment and sadness on and off the field as have many more fans who post on here, I wish you guys all the best this afternoon and if further protests are required I'm sure given the circumstances I will be amongst you.
