He doesn't know what point he's trying to make from one day to the next.

Supporting Edin is just his way of being contrary, so he can disagree with everyone else.

Are you suggesting he's an attention seeker, he's certainly a strange lad, and I accept we don't all agree on things football but Edin & Stefan take some defending.

If he were to sack his wife it would probably pay two - three players wages.

Again though we had another summer of completely changing the team but again don't have the depth of squad that is needed at this level. McCall said exactly the same about injuries and lack of depth in the squad in January and had to play kids but many on here wanted him out as he was crap rather than question the squad building over the transfer windows.

    Who were responsible for that?

Who was responsible for appointing the last head coach?

If you have a 'development squad' that is what it is supposed to be, maybe a couple of players may push through to 1st team when they have consistently shown they are up for it rather than having to rely on them as 1st team squad regulars due to lack of players.

Probably unfair. There's a lot on his post that is very accurate.

So the OP is correct in his post when saying "he head coach system works for some clubs, but these clubs have a chairman and hierarchy who actually know what they are doing. Having Edin Rahic pulling the strings for our very own head coach system is evidently not working, nor do many fans believe he is capable of doing so.

the difficult thing in lower league football where finances are limited / restricted is when all the injuries occur at the same time and are long-term or chronic injuries. if it's one or two players out for short periods of time then one of the more experienced players from the bench comes in to the starting 11.

then a development player comes into the squad and onto the bench as their replacement and is 'drip-fed' into first team football. during mccall's first season (2016 / 17) we had very few injuries or suspensions and we were lucky in that respect.

unfortunately, in his second season (2017 / 18) and at the beginning of this season we've had long-term injuries to key players; up to 8 all at once which means that all those that would be on the bench (in the match day squad of 18) come into the starting 11 and the whole bench is then made up of development players.

so far, and at this point of the season we have injuries to; wilson (gk), chicken (lb), mellor (rb), wright (cm), akpan (cm), reeves (cm), scannell (rw), seedorf (rw) and jones (st). that's 9 there who would be in the match day squad of 18 and arguably up to 7 of those players could be in the starting 11.

position for position it would be like mccall's squad of 2016 / 17 being without sattelmaier (gk), meredith (lb), mcmahon (rb), vincelot (cm), cullen (cm), law / dieng (cm), marshall (rw), gillead (rw) and jones (st) over a long period with them all out at the same time.

their replacements in that season in the match day squad would have been something like cracknell, penney, toner, pybus, devine, king, hudson, webb-foster, hiwula.

so it's not that this squad isn't as deep (quality is another discussion), it's that unfortunately we have a high number of senior pros all injured at the same time - much like we did last season and it this level, with the finances involved we don't have the resources to have a squad of 25 senior and experienced pros with some of them just sitting in the stands waiting for someone to get injured.

Why is our "injury crisis" getting some much airtime?

We've got some players injured - it's not like we can't field a team of players Abbott and Rahic brought in intentionally, because we can - easily, and with subs.

It is a CHOICE not to have an experienced LB as back up to Chicksen, it is a CHOICE to have only Akpan, Wright and Reeves as midfielders with experience, and it is a CHOICE to limit our numbers in terms of wingers.

Why did we make those choices?

Because rather than sign an LB, winger, or another midfielder, we've been able to load out development squad up with:

Colville, Staunton, Powell, Clare, Hefele, Peters, Hawkes, Gibson, Hudson, Isherwood, Devine, Wood, Robinson, and Riley.

We made the choice to invest our resources in this large list of young players, almost all signed in from elsewhere, with only two or three being actual academy products.

It's not an accident; the club assumes there is greater value in these players than two or three first team-ready players in a variety of positions.

I know what you are saying but I think what we are really saying is about quality really....depth of numbers is different...the fact you quote Meredith, McMahon, Cullen, Law, Marshall, Vincelot (in his first season) shows the quality we had and then let go. All would piss our 1st team....

financial restrictions aren't a choice unless we want to go down that road again.. take the same number of players and same position of player out of the 2016 / 17 squad for the same amount of time and we'd have struggled that season too.

devine, pybus and king coming in for cullen, vincelot and dieng is certainly no better than colville, o'brien and gibson coming in for wright, akpan and reeves.

squads at this level don't have massive quality depths due to finances. you said the squad isn't deep enough and wasn't last year, my point is the squads were as deep as each other and the quality of our replacements in the 2016 / 17 season squad was not much better than it is now - we were fortunate with injuries that season and if we had the same amount of injuries then as we had last season and the start of this season then it would have struggled in 2016 / 17 too.

It is purely accidental Jon, get with the program, we have been unlucky to have so many injuries, thereby exposing the development squad!! They were never meant for th3 first just yet. We only bought the minimum 1st team players due to budget restrictions. C’mn now surely you didn’t think we would use them in the 1sr Team? Yes very unfortunate we have so many injuries, we didn’t plan for this to happen we have been seriously unlucky. What do you mean we didn’t have a fitness coach that might have alleviated the injuries, we have to prioritise the budget. What about Collins you cry!! Yes well that was a plan that I hatched over the summer, it was very cheap, plus I liked having more control over the coach to such an extent, that I could lean over the wall and tell him that this is a game we can win!! Why didn’t he need to hear that??? Anyway he has gone now, and we move on!! Etc etc .,

If we weren't paying for Seedorf and O'Brien's loans, Kai Brunker, Clare, Hawkes, Isherwood, and Hefele, we could probably afford a quality left back and central midfield option.

We have a squad of THIRTY FOUR first team squad players with FOUR out on loan.

    That's thirty eight.

You're talking about restrictions? I think it's more a case of poorly distributing our funds and spreading them FAR too thin. We've too many passengers, and too much fat on this squad. I don't care if they're 18, 19, 20, 21, or whatever age Brunker is, if they're not good enough, GET SHUT.

The season we went up from League Two, having endured the cup runs and a colossal number of games overall, we had ended up with 28 players on our books. We supplemented with loans, and some players left, but we ended up with 28 on our books. That INCLUDES Scott Brown, Forrayah Bass, Conor Erangey, Louie Swain, Nathan Curtis, Callum Hepworth, Adam Baker and Dean Overson.

We had our share of youngsters on the fringes then, but if you cannot see how we are wasting resources with double figure extra bodies at the club, then my arguments will be lost on you forever.

It's pretty clear we're wasting our 'limited financial resources' in ridiculous fashion.
