This opinion bemuses me somewhat. Its a forum to discuss all things Bradford City. We have a number of new signings and coupled with the remaining players its interesting to here what fans views are on what could be the starting eleven. If you don’t like the thread don’t read it.

 

Stop talking sense.

 

Every team in the history of football in pre season looks strong on paper. That’s why we come back year after year.

 

Nevermind weak defence the midfield looks like you can drive a bus straight through it- Akpan and Anderson who struggle for fitness and form in the middle and two wingers as most of you has posted?

I am not posting a starting eleven until better players arrive.
Vaughan and Donaldson together or Doyle starting and Donaldson on the bench/rotating?
One nice problem to have.

 

I think you're overestimating the quality needed to be successful in this division. You don't need top quality players in every single position, 5 or 6 good players with a few decent ones mixed in will do it. As I see it, we've got a top GK, RB, CB, RW and two strikers - that's 6 players of real quality. Now Richards-Everton and Longridge may also fall into that bracket but as of yet we've no way of knowing. But either way should we get a couple of decent/average midfielders and a left winger we'll be up there.

 

Cannot see Reeves playing anytime soon. Reading between the lines in todays T&A, Bowyer didnt seem too confident with an imminent return to playing.

I dont think we will see him play for us for a few months at the earliest, if in fact at all again

 

Too early to predict starting X1. Would expect further movement in and out during the course of the next month

We need at least one more central midfielder, two ideally. That would be the remaining priority as we surely cannot rely on last season's misfiring misfits to collectively come good

Do you think so? I have Donaldson as the first name on the sheet and Doyle and Vaughan fighting it out to partner him. For me, it depends on who clicks best in the warm up games

 

I can't imagine a more pointless thread. An awful lot will change between now and the first game of the season

No, he will be doing ball work early August - HOPEFULLY - so a good few week ball work, and with no re repercussions, hopefully by end of September he will pulling on the claret and amber again.

 

Josh Wright is also a former Championship player with very recent league 1 experience. It doesn't automatically make him equipped for a league 2 promotion push.

The way I see it is that we've got maybe 4 quality players in there, a lot of average ones and a few unknowns. I don't think that constitutes as being "very strong",but agree that it has the potential to be if we address key areas with sufficient quality.

That midfield is dreadful.

 

More chance of me being sub than Vaughan.

 

I think Vaughan is a definite starter m8, i see Bowyer as having him as the number one striker.

 

I'm not too sure yet, like you say it depends what Bowyer sees in training. Donaldson has the most recent game time at the higher level and he will probably start. I just can't see Vaughan on the bench, watching the interview he seems to be integral to Bowyers long term plan. I think its same with Scannell, if he's still here its a dead cert that he starts, no way would a player of his experience be warming the bench. Isn't the first friendly next week?
