Having not won at home in over 3 months, these next 2 matches in quick succession are literally going to make or break our season.

We have to win them. Both of them. If we don’t, then we’re probably going to be in the bottom half of the league going into the new year with only 20 matches left. That’s when things could get sour.

Win them both though and we’re almost certainly back in the play offs, back in form, with the transfer window open.

Really really important next 2 games.

Frankly, if these players can't win at VP against teams like Harrogate, they're too mentally weak to be here.

I'm running out of patience with these players.

Because he is responsible for the long term floundering of the club that some feel is continuing even under another top manager.

It could not be any clearer to me why Ryan Sparks and Stefan Rupp are to blame.

They are far more to blame than either Adams or Hughes will ever be/have been.

I think you need to look closer to Hughes ,Gent and the mediocre recruitment rather than Sparks. The budget was good this season,so no reason for the club to fail. I don’t think Sparks insists on continuing Smallwood and Gilliead or having a group of players who don’t score goals. I think Stephen Gent is overrated and the recruitment has been mediocre.

    FA Cup 1st round

    City 0-1 Harrogate

it’s already happened and don’t keep blaming the players it’s the clown in charge whose creating this mess .............if City came out firing from the off then the crowd would be fully behind them ............ but you know what’s coming :( come the half hour mark when we’ve passed the ball around the back for the 109th time is when the toxic attmosphere kicks in

I wonder if City made ALL the players available for sale......who would they get offers for ?!?!
I cant see any club wanting someone from this squad, and I cant see many players wanting to join either.

Another powder puff season from City. Hanging on the coat tails of barrow for a playoff spot despite a strong backing from the Board,

Hughes was a breath of fresh air at first, sounds like his go to players are letting him down and he is too dopey to see it, and his tactics in
League two suck! A combo which can only end one way.

That's why Ryan won't sack Hughes, he can't afford to. Another manager change by him he may as well resign.

Amazed that Sparks is even being blamed for this ........... he’s made mistakes in the past but now

Hughes was the manager WE ALL WANTED
He’s given Hughes a decent budget to get us out of this league
He’s brought in a chief scout to bring in players that WE where all happy to see in

he ain’t the issue here it’s really down to one man and that one man is actually making a simple task look like rocket science ........... we in paper have the best squad in this league now surly the best squad shouldn’t be messing around outside the playoffs should it ?????

Sparks has provided him and us with everything we all wanted so you cannot really blame him can you

2 shots on target in 3 games. And Hughes is saying we must do better.

Maybe he needs to by changing his game plan and dropping the dross he keeps picking.

I knew it was low but that Fooking seriously appalling

7 goals from out last 10 games and 4 of them came in 2 matches :) so 3 goals from 8 games honestly if he ain’t gonna do something to change it then I’m done with him

Inevitable that at some point the CEO will have to have words with Hughes and ask the question we all want answered "What the hell is going on Mark"
How Hughes reacts to said question will tell everyone all you need to know about our manager and in my opinion that's where the book stops.
Carry on with one lone striker home and away.
Carry on with a midfield partnership devoid of gile and creativity.
And carry on playing out from the back inviting the opposition forward all the time.
These tactics aren't working, change the system instead of this arrogant stubborn attitude and pointless outcome.

MH plays cook on his own again and we see the same performance and Harrogate win.

    MH is done for.

Engage your brain and you might understand.

Sparks is fully to blame! Get it wrong at the top then the rest doesn’t matter because it will crumble.

Same tactics and lose against Harrogate Thursday, then unlikely to beat Salford. Will start to become really toxic and If not looking up by the Carlisle game on the 21st January and we lose I predict Hughes will be gone.

Not a great admirer of Sparks to be honest but all he has done is appoint (on paper) a top class manager to help with his own inexperience and provided funds to build us a large but ineffective squad that ain't his fault unless you think he signed them, picks the team, and dictates tactics ??
We have the least experienced CEO and the most experienced manager in the League
MH who most at the time we're wetting themselves about is not a L2 manager his mask is slipping to reveal Derek Adams !! (a shuddering thought)
You can "big up" Fat Boy Slim" , Wellens and any other manager you want but sadly it doesn't guarantee success
At some point we have to stick with what we have and MAKE it work!!!

Hughes was seen as a real coup, after he was announced as the new boss. I don't recall anyone even mentioning him as a contender before the announcement? Probably due to people forgetting that he was available or because they didn't think he'd even entertain managing a struggling fourth division club.

I think the only criticism that could be levelled at Sparks is the fact that he seemed to get giddy at who was applying once he found the application email in his spam folder. There doesn't seem to have been much consideration given to Hughes lack of experience at this level, his time away from the game or what style of football he'd be playing. From the outside, it looks like Sparks got starstruck at the caliber of one applicant. I can't blame him really, if we'd gone for someone else and been underwhelmed with the appointment and Hughes had gone public about wanting the job, we'd definitely have moaned about that as a missed opportunity.

He's been given everything he could have reasonably asked for in terms of recruitment and probably a considerable amount more than the fanbase could have hoped for. The players individually and as a team are definitely underperforming and have never really clicked as a collective, even when they've been winning, it's hardly been convincing. I'm hoping that he can see that if he just perseveres with the same players and formation/strategy and performances and results don't improve. Then it won't be long before the supporters fully turn on him, should that happen then I expect he'll join the long list of managers that have arrived with a decent reputation, but can't succeed at BD8 and we'll be back at square one again.
