They are two different types of player do I don’t think you can compare them directly. Sutton is a good player who I think will improve this season. His energy and ball winning created the goals at Tranmere away and Bolton at home to name just two.

I would personally have Watt and Songo'o. Yann doing the obvious, and Watt getting on the ball and making us tick. I think he'll do that better this year with someone like Yann next to him. I think it'll be a common substitution with Sutton coming on if Watt isn't getting on the ball or needing more energy and drive, which Levi provides.

 

Could we see a 4-1-4-1 formation, with Songo'o holding, behind Cooke and Watt as attacking CMs? Or Cooke and Sutton, with Sutton playing a McCall-style box to box role with Cooke staying further up in the 10 role? And we also have Gilliead, who can also play centrally these days.
Nice to have several decent CM options. It's a long while since we've had that.

 

Finally a ball winning midfielder and as a big plus point the lad is a serial winner at this level.

The point is that I doubt any of us can name any other squad in the division, never mind go through them all, compare them and list 7 that are better.

This is league two not the PL and right now, if we're honest, pretty much everyone could easily finish in pretty much every position in the league table. It'll be a good few months before we start working out which teams have the most cohesion and look the strongest.

The feelings about this signing seems positive from posters but just like each of the other signings, I will hold on until the sum of the parts, can be seen.

 

If you've noted signings have been announced at regular intervals starting with more junior/ resigning out of contract, followed by new faces. I like what Songo'o had to say when he said what he brings to the table. We've heard that sort of thing before but for some reason, I just think he's going to be a big player for us.

 

I think he should be even better knowing Songo’o is behind him, last season he ran back like a headless chicken if we lost the ball going forward. He tried to do everything because of other midfield frailties imho.

I think it’s too early to choose between Watt and Sutton.
