I've no objection to a former City player being Manager / Head Coach .................Providing they have 'cut their teeth' at an acceptable level. To clarify - A minimum of five years, with a proven success of year on year improvement, eventually carrying that experience into the EFL.

Take Mark Bower ...... He is now getting to grips with his role - But sadly, still way off League level at this time.

There will always be positions for the likes of Barry Fry and Steve Evans ............ They start in non-league, and work up, and up further. ;)

Stuart was certainly wiser and mentally tougher in his second stint. :)

Someone who knows something about football commented 'If you take up a managerial position you're just babysitting somebody's toy. You either win or disappear. There's so many elements of modern day football I don't want to be part of." https://www-bbc-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.bbc.co.uk/sport/amp/football/46252511?amp_js_v=a2&amp_gsa=1#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2F46252511

You are correct in your assumption. I share your view, in that my respect of McCall is preserved. You can only do so much, then it is down to your 'tools and environment ' that you operate in.

Spot on. No one is perfect and l certainly am not. Jackson was a very good player for City, his stint as a manager has left a lot 'luggage'a

I agree, Rod. The 'Mirror' effect of that is; 'To not only possess the best tools, but also the knowledge of how well to apply and use them' :)

Ditto McFarland & Cherry, both came in as player-manager and had not played for City beforehand
