Shay McCartan

I'm not sure Bowyer sees him as you do mate, or he would be starting more games.
But I do agree at times certain players get uncalled for comments.

 

Its a hangover from when he said he didn't like the big stage and how happy he was at Lincoln.
He as never been given a run so I actually don't know how good he is? They loved him at Accrington.

Our front two when fit are better but as we all know Donaldson is out for a bit.

All I know when you are in a job you don't feel valued, if your not happy or like the place, the work rate falls away no matter how hard you try some times?

 

Does he get that many bad comments?

 

For Bradford City he has been poor and I am not convinced that Bowyer rates him highly no matter what he has said about him.

If Lincoln rated him so much then he would be their player now.

His best position is AM for me and Bowyer would rather Harry play there.

I think he will be gone in Jan.

 

I have no ill feeling but time to cash in/get off the books. Bowyer doesn't fancy him so time to go.

 

Totally agree about Shay. I just don't see a player in him...when he's playing for US. Same old story about players banging in goals for other clubs - it's getting boring. I've lost count of the amount of players we've had that have come with a goal scoring record, and then don't produce the goods when playing for Bradford City. Maybe it's our coaches, our style of play, formation or the demands of the fans. McCarten has gone on record that he finds the crowds intimidating, but that just signals to me that he's not in the right mind to play for us, and should be shipped out (to a club with lesser crowds like Lincoln). I was hoping that his goal a few weeks ago might have lifted his confidence, but if Bowyer isn't picking him, then he's the one making that decision based on what he knows about the players personality.
As much as I think Oteh isn't the answer, he must have something more about him to be getting minutes ahead of Shay. Unless his loan specifies game time.

 

Is the negativity towards McCartan a thing?

I haven't noticed.

Play him deeper, he’s technically better than most of the CM’s and his role would be an attacking one with Cooke sitting.

 

Hes got what it takes to win games. Hes scored some absolute worldies only last season for Lincoln and scored some vital goals for them in their promotion. No body is suggesting hes a L1 world beater, but hes proved he can do it at this level. With Donaldson injured I think he deserves his chance. No point saying GB doesn't fancy him because hes already said he tried to sign him for another club but finances limited that transfer. The Port Vale game was a classic example of a game where we were lacking cutting edge in the second half and hes someone willing to shoot on sight. Hes done it and won games for us. Dont get the doubt?

 

All those wanting him in, just where would you play him and in what formation that is currently better than what we have?

 

Another Bradford City enigma.

His to date stats suggest he scores at a ratio of about 1 in 5/6 games so if he played in all the games for the rest of the season and remained fit we could expect about 6 more goals from him.

Not a bad return especially if he was used as an impact sub-like he was against Swindon.

The big question is does GB really rate him? It seems not.

 

We overpaid for him, barely gave him a game and the shipped him of to Lincoln. None of that is his fault.

I'd like to see more of him as he has been effective coming of the bench in the past. Not the lost cause some people seem to believe he is.

 

Some Accrington Stanley fans said they could not believe we paid a fee for him .

 

Doesn't seem like anyone against him playing.

It's just whether Bowyer puts him on the pitch or not. We can't really control that, nor do I have an appetite to do so even if I could.

 

Greg Abbott said at the fans forum we'd had I believe he said four bids for McCartan maybe we should have sold him during that January window because I can't see him being a regular if he cant get a start in our injury riddled team, his contract is up in June of next year I think it will be a parting of the ways for Bradford City and Shay McCartan.

 

Bowyer can say all he wants to try to get interest in and get him out of the club but fact is he isn't starting him.

Against Vale, Bradford on top of the game.. Bowyer looks at McCartan and then thinks forget that I will stick with the lads on the pitch to try to score.

Bowyer is a negative manager so is rare for him to run the risk with a player like McCartan.

 

Hard to disagree with that. Even though he said hed tried to sign him before, hes not had a look in! He should have been brought on in the Vale game but it never happened. Strange. He has it in him to win games

 

Trying to sign someone means nothing though... he didn't!

His name could of just been on a list.

Bowyer should of brought him on against Vale but not doing so highlights McCartan is done here even more.
