Do we actually need more money or just spend it better.

Bradford City is like the NHS, the more you throw at it, the more gets wasted. The NHS doesnt need extra funds, it needs less manager's, less highly paid CEOs, less hignly paid execs at NHS England in Leeds, less being ripped off by contractors, less being ripped off by big pharma, GPs being given the three line whip on the hours their surgeries are open so A&E isn't overrun by people who cant get into a GP and the PFI debt that Blair created wiping out.

Bradford City have enough money to build a very good squad, but like the NHS we just need manager's who spend it well and a CEO who stops spunking it away on compensation paid to sacked managers.

We said yes to a increase last year on the promise of a promotion challenge
I think the club should honour there pledge first before any increase in season ticket price

The match day rating is just guesswork isn't it? My match day is spent hauling myself to my uncomfortable plastic seat with the minimum permitted legroom, knowing that cramp will be setting in very soon. I've got my flask of coffee because if I buy anything from the kiosks my kids don't eat for a week. My pre-match entertainment is watching City 'warm-up' that ends with that clappy thing the players do that's supposed to engender some togetherness with the crowd but I find fake and hollow. Half time entertainment is a man wearing a bandana forking the pitch and if we're really being spoilt the sprinklers come on. This week we were treated to some distance figures on the pitch with a microphone making indecipherable noises. I knew one of them was Edihno only because someone had read that he was in town for some charity match. I didn't know one was Duxbury until I read it on here when I got home. The PA has been like it for years the club are in denial about it. I disagree about opposition fans as well. I was at the Exeter game where their fans never shut up the whole 90 mins. Still ravaged by cramp, I have to keep my wits about me down Midland Road where crowd management entails putting people and fast moving cars in the same area. With any luck my cars still in one piece and I can make it home safely.

We have been to VP this afternoon to sort out executive seats for the rest of the season. Which will also be our seat for next season. What a lovely man Mick Lamb is! Sorted it out in no time. Plus we have our name down for a parking slot. Bradford City are very lucky to have him! I hope they pay him well! I forgot to ask what time do the suites open for drinks?

@Onside@Onside - in my limited dealings with him, he has always been absolutely first rate. A credit to the club I would say.

I wouldn't want to and don't think we will be asked to.

It's still going to be a hard sell in the summer after this horrific season.

The novelty of Hughes appointment will have worn off and I'm afraid a lot of fans are losing interest having suffered 5 years of decline and dross for entertainment

That said, I would pay more if they increased. 56 years of following them is a hard habit to break for me, no matter what rubbish is served up

    No.

The club don't need fans to pay more money.

They either need Rupp to put some money up front, win back the fans en route to promotion, in which case we can think about an increase in ST price next season, or they need to work with the budget they'll get anyway, which is ample if the club are to be believed.

Under no circumstances is an increase in ST prices justifiable under Rupp and Sparks.

Absolutely looks like he's taken the squad by the scruff of the neck and told them play it my or no way, a breath of fresh air is running through our club may it long continue

My view is I don’t mind paying extra. However I do think that it is time for Rupp to invest upfront instead of the ST money being the only money in. He is the custodian of this club and through his stewardship we have gone down and down. We are now at the point where we could lose our league status. I won’t go over old ground but we were in a good state when he took over.
Now is the time to show the fans that he is committed to this clubs as much as the fans are. If he invests up front then he may well be able to get it back in 2/3 years. Very good appointment of the manager well done now back it up.
You have to invest in order to make money, treading water is not an option.

It amazes me, how tight Bradford city fans are . £199 or £8.65 per game , is an absolute bargain.
It equates to the price of a pint per week or half a packet of ciggs.
I love the fact we pull fantastic crowds for this level, and the atmosphere at the last two matches has been great, but the cheap tickets have become expected from some fans.
I have always subscribed to the other options, 1903 club , Stuarts fighting fund. So willing to pay more.
Season tickets at £230 or £10 per game for me next season. We need as much money as possible in that playing budget to fund Sparky's squad.
Its the chicken and egg scenario. More funds better players , better players more funds. It has to start somewhere and i think we have the manager to attract quality, but can we afford them.

At the end of the day, blaming season ticket prices for the reason we don't have the biggest budget in League Two is incorrect.

Swindon Town season tickets cost £350 or £330.

Their average attendance this season is 9,121.

If you were to pretend every single one of those attendees had a season ticket, which is a MASSIVE oversimplification that favours this them in terms of this particular argument, the total amount would be £3.1 million.

If you pretended every one of our 15,211 paid £199, that would equal £3.02 million.

No other club in League Two come remotely close.

At worse, our overall gate receipts will be second, if not first once you've factored in match day sales (match day tickets for Bradford City fans are dramatically more expensive than season ticket prices - not so at Swindon Town), and yet people think we should pay MORE?

    Why?

Because other clubs have ambitious chairman will to invest their own capital, and we don't? Come on... This is a nonsense argument.

Anyone telling me that the 7 members of my family that attend every season need to pay more just because Rupp can't be arsed can do one, to be honest.

Now if our gate receipts were significantly lower than a few teams (or, well, even ONE team), that might be an argument - but as we know, that's horse manure. The club has all the funds it needs - it gets a huge amount of capital from the fans, that is comparable to ANY League Two club - if we're struggling, that's not the reason. It's just an excuse.

It's a nightmare of an argument tbf, and tbh everyone with different views/takes on the situation are all correct. Despite the recent history of poor spending of budgets etc we shouldn't really hold that against the new manager. I think we should come to a point of backing our man with a slight increase alongside Rupp showing an interest and dipping in his pocket to slightly push the boat out. The annoying thing is in L2 it would be a tiny amount of his wealth he'd have to speculate to make a huge difference is miniscule, with huge rewards in L1 for revenue.

Ah yeah, but them Londoners get paid WAY MORE than the increase in the cost of living that comes from living in London rather than Bradford... :p:p:p

Just kidding, but crikey, that's a fortune!

Yeah, great cases in point, Dave.

Long gone are the days that Bradford City were some outlandish outlier in terms of ticket prices.

We're cheap, but we're not the cheapest anymore.

Hell you can buy a season ticket at QPR for £225, and some want us to pay more than that!

Crowds down to 8000? Loss of money spent in the kiosks and bars.
    Loss of marketing revenue.

There's lots to take into account.

You seem happy to pay £299 but that price will drive away a lot of supporters when the product on the field is so poor.

For £299, I can pick and choose 15 home games. Where's the incentive to buy a season ticket?

It amazes me that there's still people that thinks the football we see equates directly to the price we're prepared to pay. If ever there was a season that made the 'more funds better players' argument redundant it's this one- 30% increase to assemble one of the worst squads ever.

£199 for the standard of football weve seen this season is expensive. Appalling product on the pitch. Hopefully now we will see some positive change. 15k fans at £199 is surely a strong budget to rival others in the division. We keep hearing that it’s about quality of recruitment. We simply got this wrong with the style of footy we’ve tried to play. Get players in to suit Hughes brand of football. We should have enough budget to do that since the majority of players are out of contract anyway.

We may have researched, scouted etc.... it might just be that players didn't want to come to the basket case club that is/was Bradford City and therefore we ended up with 3rd, 4th choice players.
