My Huddersfield mates advised he was most likely gonna be injured at some point this season. If we can keep him fit from feb until the end of the season he may bring something to the party and be useful for our survival. Hasn't he got another year on his contract? Injuries can't be helped but he hasn't really earned his crust so far.

I think the toxicity surrounding the club will have had a different impact on different players.

I though Scannell showed glimpses of real potential in some of the games. Alas, they were only glimpses. Now that the toxicity has left the building hopefully he will come back revitalised and determined to make his mark.

 

I know Scannel has a bit of a reputation for missing a lot of games, but this time it's a bit more than a pull or muscle injury. Don't think anyone could have anticipated he could crack a bone in his back. Just bad luck.

 

No I called it when we signed him he hasn't lived up to what was expected of him before he got injured. He is injury prone but should still tear this league apart when fit but never as. Again as I said last week along with Josh Wright a terrible signing that cost us a fee on top.

 

I have to disagree Ricky. I think when fit he is a very good player for this league. Whether he is worth whatever it is we are paying him is a different question.

 

Which was the home game where Scannell completely ran the show? Might have been Burton? Think he is taking quite a bit of unjustified stick tbh. Get him fit, make him feel part of the team, and he'll play a big part in our revival in the new year. He can have defenders on toast at this level. People say he was inconsistent, but who wasn't in that opening s**t show start to the season.

About the only tactical decision Collins got right was keeping scannell on that touchline all game and switching the play. A bit like how man city get their wingers in so much space.

 

He's only played a handful of games, most under a rookie coach who was way out of his depth. The pre-season was a total shambles so he was probably not fully match fit, along with most of the rest of the squad until recently. The team was playing terribly, clearly had no idea what system they were supposed to be playing and morale was obviously rock bottom. None of this is condusive to producing your best form.

After several seasons at Huddersfield he must have felt like he'd walked into a nightmare. But he did enough in a couple of games to show that he could be a force in this division when fit and firing. Hopefully he'll come back in February to a team on the up and really show us what he's capable of.

Apart from Luke O'Brien, no one in the squad was pulling up any trees in August and September, ie before Scannell got injured. Other experienced pros like Payne, Doyle, O'Connor, NKP and Ball were all under-performing or blowing hot & cold. It seems strange to single out Scannell for playing badly when the whole team was dire.
