This is not not true, it was, but hasn't been for 3 years, hence the rise (again) of Seville, Valencia, Betis etc. RM & Barca used to get nearly 40% of all TV money split between them but now after the collective agreement that has dropped to nearly 20%.

They now actually get more money than before, but considering their players wage demands and club running costs the gap between the big 2 and rest has closed considerably.

If they follow how they have been doing it though they aren’t going to be bringing in players of this level though. They have generally gone in with a fairly small squad (which is fine as long as you don’t have injury issues) that contains one or two luxury players who are better than the level they are at but with the rest being more solid players for that level. You can certainly look at signings like this and jump to a conclusion they are just throwing money at it but overall their spending isn’t really excessive

Hmmmm... Would have been quite happy to see them spend another season in the conference.

Yep, not always that easy though.

I'd definitely expect them top seven, but to declare them champions is hyperbole based on potential and not much else. It's still just one good signing.

No ambition? Good manager, well funded, ambitious club with a clearly defined plan for the future.

Playing on loan for two seasons in a relegated club, free agent, at his age it's a chance to actually shine.
Would you have wanted him at City?

If you can afford it, why not?

They won’t stop there I don’t think. Don’t rate Alexander massively as a manager but think with 3 auto places up for grabs if they continue to recruit as they have done they are surely a shoe in for one of them

At the minute it looks impossible to call. No squad looks good yet and I imagine it won't be until the start of the season before we have a better idea.

How can this be called fair play, when extremely wealthy owners can continue to pump money in at will? Ok they can’t take the money back or use it as a loan, but if you are wealthy and your football team is your hobby then you can bypass other teams with sheer wealth.

But if you were a billionaire or Ken Morrison, shouldn't you be allowed to take your hard earned money and invest it in your favourite team? That's what Hoyle at Huddersfield and the fella at Bristol City have done, isn't that our right as supporters? If you can't invest money then only the big teams stay big and no-one else can challenge them

As funny as it sounds yep, football is a fans game and the way it's going it won't be for much longer. Look at the Europa League final, 5 goals but it was the one of the drabbest ever events I can remember with no fans. The wages been paid in lower league football are absolutely stupid!

You are honestly telling you didn't find that the weirdest final you've seen in a long time? As I said this is going to get worse, Posh have just paid a 7 figure sum for Mo Eisa. The fees in football are becoming astronomical.

A bit weird watching a London derby 2,500 mile away agreed, but drab it wasn't.

It’s not something new. With inflation and the like it’s just bigger fees than in the past.

Rushden and diamonds did it ages ago and got as high as league two I think and are now bust.

Fleetwood did it and can’t get out of league one.

Forest green are owned by a wealthy backer yet are still in league two.

Salford haven’t even had one season in this league yet and you’re talking as though they are going up as champions.

They get so far and it stops as teams get better. Makes no odds to me. Always a rich club in every league

Second half, I posted if can only get better after a very poor first half ;).
I'm sure UEFA are trying to showcase the game all over Europe but they need to take fans costs into consideration, I except they can't pre-empt who the finalists will be but for traveling fans it was horrendous.
Possibly it being an all English final it emphasised the broblems, I would assume it would have nearly been as difficult for French, Spanish or Italian fans ?.

I just have, Posh spending 1.5m. Even Fleetwood didn't pay the sort of money that Salford are paying Towell, The Neymar fee, Coutinho to Barca fee I mean the list is getting endless

Then you've got China to throw into the mix - one club offering Ramos a 60 million pound 3 year deal this week. Real rejected Ramos's request for a free transfer this time yes, but that isn't going to stop clubs in China offering ridiculous sums of money to tempt the best players in Europe.
