The bloke is completely clueless.

He said the last 5 minutes at Oldham influenced his decision to sack McCall, because we got out of the relegation zone and it summed up this league.

Also him taking his role is because he would never take a job on that he thought he would fail at.

He kept saying “this is not about me” but then kept on referencing “I’m 29 years of age” and “I was born in 1991”. Sorry, what sort of CEO speaks like this? Sounds like a sales man not the head of a professional football club. He’s a cheap appointment who clearly has no clue what he’s doing. Anyone who disagrees is just blinded by their loyalty to and love for the club

I took it to mean the performance was crap and he saw it as a chance to still get out of trouble when he looked at league table and saw we were still out of relegation zone despite getting well beat. Give the new manager a chance to get us well out of it?

We are in desperation mode but changing what he said to make a point is Poor form.
He’s saying the right things and trying to put things in place to make us better longer term. You seem to have a problem because of his age. He seems the cheap option but first job ticked off he’s talking to the fans and open. Second one he was Brave to sack McCall after giving him a longer contract.
Let’s see who we appoint and what this new recruitment team looks like

Absolutely How, give the bloody fella a chance! If some of you didnt sit trying to pick holes in everything he said he actually is trying to communicate what is going on at the club, something you have been crying out for over the past 18 months! He spoke a lot of sense about what is needed and has to change at the club - but some only hear what they want to hear so they can continue their negative tirade against Sparks and what he lacks rather than what he might actually bring to the club

 

What is clueless about recognising the club is shit at recruiting and doing something about it. And why is he not allowed to be ambitious?

 

I just think we need experience to get us out of this hole, now isn’t the time to give someone control in their first job doing so. It’s a massive gamble and it’s one I don’t think we should be making.

Valid points regarding the 2 correct decisions, however, giving McCall and Black new contracts in the first instance is extremely baffling.

If you’re happy for the club to be taking the gamble, fine, but it’s clearly a rushed erratic move putting a rookie in charge. Let’s hope he can pull it off against the odds!

Couldn’t agree more. Not sure what else he can do for the time being. He has a recruitment team in place in the background working on signings currently or ideas with the new manager getting the final say. (Something we all wanted after Rahic went) He wants a frame work in place so if we lose a manager it doesn’t all fall apart. (Something we have all asked for on here)
He’s going to take his time and interview the candidates and have something in place by the Grimsby game in 8 days time. (Something we all asked for rather than a repeat of McCall with Rhodes)
He will step back and let the manager manage and wants to ensure a correct back room team is in place ( something we all asked for)
He wants to give youth a go at the club

I mean yeah he’s young and he was cheap and was here for the summer but I’d lay the most of that blame with Rhodes for the lacklustre window and the appointment of McCall.
Let’s give him a chance before we micro analyse his every word on the radio - something we have all been crying out for, talking to fans!

We are getting experience in a recruitment team by the sounds of it and we may yet appoint a an experienced manager. I don’t see why sparks has to be experienced to put that in place. He can spot what’s wrong by the sounds of it. He needs to deliver on his words be he also needs time to deliver. It’s took him two weeks and he has a recruitment team in place by the sounds of it. Can’t knock that.
He’s done a couple of radio interviews when he said he wanted to be more open. Can’t knock that.

I don’t agree with everything he says and I felt he was naive in the summer with the vaughan situation on zoom but we don’t know if that was Rhodes balancing the books and made sparks look stupid. But he’s learning and has made the correct call sacking McCall now, giving us time to sort it out. The contract was strange but he’s explained twice now why he did it and can kind of see the logic in it. Yes it didn’t work but we move on.
