Other than the fact that on his watch we’ve been relegated whilst spending cash like confetti and apparently restored a level of financial risk akin to several years ago? In 2 years, he’s set us back 10.

Who also was part of the problem that caused our demise. They basically wasted the Mcburnie money as a result of the pair's approach to running a club.

    Exactly
Still have no assets no players worth more than a chocolate button nothing tangible to either sell or borrow against our hopes for survival rest with a man who has no interest in football bought us an investment (hoping to make money) and was conned by his fellow investor
Pretty rocky ground from where I am stood

This is largely why I feel so disengaged and apathetic about this club. There’s a chronic lack of ambition that infects the club from top to bottom. We’re systematically incompetent. Our owner is accountable for allowing running costs to spiral out of control, while at the same time allowing us to be relegated and be lumbered with an oversized, under qualified squad of players, we have no more assets than we did before he arrived, and after significantly growing our debt - he’s loaning the club cash to ‘plug a hole’, with limited real risk given the pending likelihood of the McBurnie windfall, presumably charging the club interest in the process- and we’re supposed to be grateful??!!

Sorry, but i have much higher expectations of what this club should be about. Until there’s a root and branch change of those owning and running the club we’ll go nowhere but backwards.

Nature has a habit of weeding out the unfit. This pandemic might be the tipping point for this club being no more in its current state. It may be what’s needed. I’d say we’ve had a good run but i’m not sure we have. If you’re not old enough to remember the 80s and 90s, there’s little to revel

I well remember the 70s and 80s we were no more than average old Div 4 side a much much smaller fan base but I can not remember fans saying they were disengaged with the club we had a community spirit and were owned (sometimes not very successfully) by local "football" people who actually supported the club very much grass roots football
Love him or loathe him we have never had an owner with the drive and ambition of Geoffrey Richmond either before or since he was largely responsible for dragging the club into this century and of course nearly dragging it back again
We need someone with vision and enthusiasm to get us out of this malaise and raise the profile of the club maybe I am being a bit unfair but I don't see any of those qualities at VP these days
Coming out of lockdown and rekindling interest plays a vital part in the future of our club

I asked the question a few weeks ago when Ryan sparks made a statement on twitter about something, I’ll ask again. Are we in more trouble than we are letting on? I know every club is but where is our money coming from aside from Rupp? Are we that confident that if this goes on for 3 more months for example he will keep dipping into his pocket?

It’s not right football clubs cannot survive for longer than 6 weeks without income. It shows the wages are and transfers budgets are to the limit. What happened to the days of banking something? Obsessed with spending money

BA, Virgin and others begging the government for money tells you that many businesses can’t survive six weeks without income.

The 70s were before my time, and maybe it’s nostalgia but I remember the mid to late 80s and mid to late 90s being very enjoyable, with good teams, playing good football and generally improving season on season.

I'm not sure what the situation would be had Lawn and Rhodes remained at the helm, but I imagine they'd be struggling badly at this point. I do feel Rupp provides a much sturdier safety net for the club and despite criticisms that he's taken us backwards, that will always be tempered now by the fact it doesn't feel we're on the brink of the precipice despite this crisis.

Like everyone else, I'm just looking forward to getting back to normality and football will be like a rainbow after the flood!

Didn't he drop a corner into his own goal in his debut (at the Bradford end)?

Hmmm not sure we would be in league 2 though.

Think if football doesn't come back this season then the next 3-6 months are going to be tough for many clubs including ours. Yes, I expect the all the players out of contract to be let go but no income will be coming in and if the PL or EFL can't get football restarted in June/July then it's not restarting in September/October and I doubt next season will happen until a vaccine is found, distributed worldwide.

Not sure no matter what anyone says Rupp isnt going to fund this club for 6-12 months with no income coming in.

I think we're past gloomy speculative forecasts now, Fordy, the whole world is collectively coming to the understanding that the lockdown has worked to significantly reduced the number of deaths and prevented most healthcare systems from being overwhelmed.

Almost everyone is also well aware that you cannot simply stop the world economy for another 6-12 months, and while the priority remains to prevent a second peak, there has to be a balance.

It's clear the United States aren't going to be locked down much longer, but measures will remain to self-distance in 'the new normal'. The fact pretty much every government is now using that phrase to prepare citizens for a prolonged period tells you all you need to know. There's no point in us being locked down if the rest of the world is back to some kind of normal.

This season might be finished for the lower leagues, but by September the curve should be on a downwards trajectory, and as with previous coronavirus' that have been derived from animals, the lack of resilience should boost the confidence of government's the world over.

There will always be those calling for us to wait until there is a vaccine, but it isn't happening now and unless something significantly changes, it won't be happening full stop. The world doesn't want to wait, can't wait, and won't wait. I'm fully expecting a balancing act as each country tries to control the still-existent threat while in only partial lockdown.

If next season doesn't start in August because it's not safe to play, as opposed to scheduling issues, I'll donate £20 to the BUB.
