Cheap season tickets is not only right for the present but hopefully it will give this club a brilliant future especially if we eventually get it right on the pitch.
Families are coming of which the children are fans of the future because often love+of a club comes in childhood it did for me many year ago. We are growing the fan base for the future

Had we sunk into the National League could any of us see Rupp investing the amounts that Stockport, Wrexham or even Chesterfield did? If we don’t invest in real quality, we could struggle to get out of this league until we do. Having the best ground in the league and biggest crowds is unlikely to be carrot most people think it is. We’ve seen teams thrive with a fraction of the support we have, just look at the average gates of the four teams promoted this season. That tells me that most players thrive under less pressure than succeed when the spotlight is on them. We brought in players with promotions on their CV, yet when the real crunch games came along, they were like rabbits in a headlight. Phil got it right when he brought Davies into the squad, then brought Cullen and Burke. You could see instantly they were cut above the rest. It doesn’t take many but it needs more than one in the starting 11. To succeed we need that calibre of talent. Gent needs to get more right than wrong next season and Rupp needs to give him all the backing he needs to get this club promoted next season.

Too right. Commercial loans come with double figure interest rates. If we had to borrow more than £5million the interest alone would be more than the rent.

Not owning the ground has little impact on the day to day running of the club because our crowd size makes our Commercial activity much higher than most in our league, and pays our rent.

The whole 'we own nothing' shite doesn't stop us progressing. It's a string of negative managers that do that.

I agree with most of that. However I don't expect Rupp to be digging into his own pocket to put money into the club to increase the playing budget for the coming season. In any event, he shouldn't have to! Sparks has already said that the good work of the commercial team has increased the club's income to over £8mill. That in itself could certainly change things. Taking Sparks' information at face value and even within the constraints of SCMP, Hughes should have a playing budget of £4.5mill without putting pressure on the Sparks' sustainability mantra. All it would require is Rupp znd Sparks to make the decision to put the money into the playing budget and then for Hughes to spend it wisely.

We'll all have to wait and see whether the owner and his CEO decide to provide Hughes with the opportunity to bring some genuine talent into the club and increase the prospects of promotion. It's an opportunity which shouldn't be ignored.

Whilst our standing in the playing budget league table is conjecture at this stage, I would have hoped that we'd be better placed than that for the coming season. Our season ticket sales have increased, our commercial increase has increased and Sparks has already said that as a result, our overall turnover has increased to over £8mill. That's impressive for a League 2 club.

With turnover at that level, we should be able to afford one of the highest playing budgets in the league. And that's a matter for Rupp and Sparks to make the right call. Hughes needs every bit of help possible to bring better quality into the squad and get us promoted next season. Let's give Mark the money!

And Swansea of course. They went from goal difference saving them from relegation to the NL on the final day to the PL in 9 seasons. As with Luton, Swansea had an owner who was committed to the club and understood sufficient about football to act as the DoF in all but name. Managers came and went, players came and went but their owners provided the consistency and footballing vision to carry them forward over a long period. That's a successful blueprint.

I don't think they'll overstretch themselves to stay in the PL. They'll use some of the vast PL money they'll get to finally build the new ground they've been planning for years (see link below) and aim to be a yo yo club between Championship and EPL, which would be a phenomenal achievement considering how far they dropped.

How far they dropped & how they have recovered from national League to premier goes to show it can be done
So my question is who or what is holding us back
Is it the management Rupp& Sparks & Other before them for the mismanagement of our club

We don't want or can't afford to go up through the division
Or no ambition to do so

Or is it the team manager & Players who don't care as long as they are paid

Luton are not the only team to show are club up
Bournemouth Wigan & Brentford have also done so?

TBF apart from Luton, all those have had huge sums invested where our Owner won't do that.
All these clubs have had a plan. Up until 12 months ago it didn't feel we had one.
Luton are big and strong, physical with a high press. They buy athletes.
We've gone from Bowyer to McCall to Trueman to Adams to Hughes.
They're all very different with no consistency.

The cheap season ticket argument is a load of cr@p.If we raise the price of season tickets and we lose 4 to 5 thousand fans, wouldn't the new prices just be replacing the fans we have lost ?

The reason we concede so many corners is we play our football round our own penalty box which makes it easy for teams to pressurise us into making mistakes

My take after reflection, is Hughes inherited an awful squad and over performed in the last four matches of his first season. Last season he improved the squad and massively improved our league position and points but just fell short.

Next season he has less that needs improving on. This is the crux. Either we go up, automatically, or at least by the playoffs, anything else and he is done.

After reflection, I think we will nw top three.

So up the price, reduce the crowd, alienate our future fan base, reduce corporate income.

Absolute genuis, well done Gerald Ratner.

That is purely self inflicted in my view. All our players are in the box defending/zonal marking whatever that is! If we leave one or two players in the centre the opposition has to send one or two out to mark them. Plus it gives us a chance to clear the ball out, rather the repeated corners we had to defend.
I presume zonal marking is marking space? however you need to be able to read and anticipate where the ball is going and which opposition player will be challenging for the ball. At this level players are not skilled in decision making or ability to read the game. I think we need to keep it simple.

What's pleasing about the situation is we aren't having to guess which random, cheap League Two players might or might not make squad players. We have the squad already.

Now the focus is on pure quality.

It's way more important than last season that this year's crop of signings are top notch. It doesn't matter that we wasted time on Odusina or Young, for example. It will matter more this year.

I watched the game in its entirety. They won’t last 5 mins in the Prem with that squad. They will have to blast their entire Sky money and other non turnstile income , loans or “ gifts” to fork out circa £100 million just to hold water.

Exactly what Nottingham Forest did in Jan . Spent £150 MILLION.

They did well but the standard between the two leagues is as wide as the English Channel .

That's probably about right. Whatever they do and provided they don't blow it, the club should be set up for a while.
