Ryan Sparks / Stefan Rupp please take a look at the Luton blueprint. Brilliant success and well done to them. Trying to do it any other way is costly and futile. Quality over quantity, players recruited for this year and next. Let’s not mess around trying to do things on the cheap .Luton set about getting the recruitment right from the off. They knew what they wanted and had a plan. We need the same. No more Youngs, Harrats et Al, get proven, get mobile, get hungry players with something to prove.

I watched the game in its entirety. They won’t last 5 mins in the Prem with that squad. They will have to blast their entire Sky money and other non turnstile income , loans or “ gifts” to fork out circa £100 million just to hold water.

Exactly what Nottingham Forest did in Jan . Spent £150 MILLION.

They did well but the standard between the two leagues is as wide as the English Channel .

That's probably about right. Whatever they do and provided they don't blow it, the club should be set up for a while.

I don't think they'll overstretch themselves to stay in the PL. They'll use some of the vast PL money they'll get to finally build the new ground they've been planning for years (see link below) and aim to be a yo yo club between Championship and EPL, which would be a phenomenal achievement considering how far they dropped.

They can’t build a new ground AND fund what is required to stay in the Prem Offy? Don’t get me wrong they have done a great job, but the pitfalls are looming but build a ground as well?

How far they dropped & how they have recovered from national League to premier goes to show it can be done
So my question is who or what is holding us back
Is it the management Rupp& Sparks & Other before them for the mismanagement of our club

We don't want or can't afford to go up through the division
Or no ambition to do so

Or is it the team manager & Players who don't care as long as they are paid

Luton are not the only team to show are club up
Bournemouth Wigan & Brentford have also done so?

TBF apart from Luton, all those have had huge sums invested where our Owner won't do that.
All these clubs have had a plan. Up until 12 months ago it didn't feel we had one.
Luton are big and strong, physical with a high press. They buy athletes.
We've gone from Bowyer to McCall to Trueman to Adams to Hughes.
They're all very different with no consistency.

That's what I'm saying. I don't think they'll push the boat out to stay in the PL. They'll reinforce a bit but not madly. They'll have parachute money if they go down so they'll likely go back up again before too long. I think they'll basically do what Burnley have done - secure themselves as a top Championship/ bottom PL club, but with the new ground they've needed for ages.

I think you’ll find Bournemouth and Brentford (not sure about Wigan) have/are being bankrolled by somebody

Forest have stayed up with their home record, that's all Luton can hope for as well next season.

Luton haven't a prayer of staying up next season. Be close to lowest points tally ever in the Premiership I reckon.

Most of the premier League riches get eaten up with ground improvements, players wages and transfer fees etc. Should be ok if they keep in their own lane, don't do what Sheffield Utd did and spend stupid on very average players.

Difference between the likes of Leeds and Brentford/Brighton staying in the prem long term is their long term strategy. Leeds got lucky last season but that luck will and did run out as they had no strategy, having to pay tens of millions for an awful transfer policy where some weren't even at the club. Brentford and Brighton have very similar strategies, no coincidence their owners make their money in similar ways and are both good friends.

If they're smart, which they are, they won't base their approach next year on staying up. They'll use the money they make to recruit young players who're prepared to stick around the following year in the championship and invest in their infrastructure, accepting at best they'll be yo-yoing for a few years and lay the foundations for something longer term.

I actually thought that this season with Fulham before a ball was kicked. How wrong was I.

No team will like going away to Luton for an evening kick off, which is what the TV companies will want to put on. They'll win at least 5 home games next season.

You would think that they'll need at least 8 to have a chance of staying up.

Is it a £170 million sum for the next 3 years.
Take the money ,add 1 or 2 players of better quality for their more than likely return to the championship and a good chance of going back up, think Burnley. Build the new stadium and strengthen their hand.
They should be well set for the next decade or so.
