I'll tell you what they want, they won't go away until he is sacked from teaching or at least removed from that particular school.

If the police turn up in numbers there will be many many more protesters very soon after.

One of the protesters saying an apology from the school/ head is not good enough they want the teacher to make a public apology.

If they were all women protesting the police would be straight in there dispersing them.

They are breaking the law by gathering there and needed moving on instead of simply closing the school. Regardless of more trouble makers turning up, isn't that what the police are there for?

The teacher should have known that it would cause trouble. They are supposed to be an RE teacher so can not claim ignorance of the rules of the religions.

as for the head teacher taking action didn’t they only suspend the teacher yesterday after the protests started. The incident and complaints were 4 days ago. So would the head have done anything if the ‘mob’ hadn’t have turned up? Probably not.

It would completely depend on the context.

If it was posted mocking the victims in a spiteful and vindictive way then that is not good. That would be offensive because that is what it is trying to be.

If ,as it is often used in Fire service training, it was presented as an opportunity to learn and reflect then that's not offensive.

    Well not to me anyway.

From what I have read the context of this cartoon was to be educational and explore a range of subject matters including freedom of expression and tolerance.

Seems this was a rogue, badly thought out, event by the RE teacher as why has this not been raised at other schools as an issue?

It probably hasn't been rasied at other schools as no other RE teacher has done it. Most teachers design their own lessons around the syllabus, very few buy in lessons.

I agree totally with you but you and I know how it works these days, sensitive issues and the make of the protesters.

On this occasion you can be excused as you have a sensible grab of the situation under discussion, just the other 20 odd subjects to get right and 'til then consider yourself still on probation..;)

It wouldn't offend me, just like photos in books of wars and atrocities don't offend me.

If we are stereotyping they would be in a good place by asking a teacher for tips

Talking of hymns being sung at school, one of the schools that I attended at morning assembly we used to sing "Glorious Things Of Thee Are Spoken".
Found out later in life that the Headmaster was leader of the local BNP.
It all makes sense now. We only had half a dozen Asians in the school and there always seemed to be one of them stood outside his office.

It will not matter in the end, There are forecasts that in around 20-30 years with present population traits the country will be mainly Muslim and Christianity will be a minority religion if allowed at all

They only measure those that cannot speak English at all from wherever they come from and at the moment it is around 20% of all children attending school for the first time in the UK
