For anyone interested and who has BT the West Ham Vs Bradford City 1999/2000 game is on at 19:30 tonight what a game.

 

Few things to take from today:

Despite playing ok, I don't think we'll be playing the diamond very often. Doyle worked very hard but lacks the technical ability to play number 10. Also the lack of width doesn't really play to Vaughan's and Donaldson's strengths.

Gibson again was impressive with and without the ball. Won the ball back numerous times and created a really good chance for Vaughan.

Palmer is class, calm on the ball and some excellent passing. Get that DM next to him and he'll be even better.

 

Rochdale

 

Better go tell Ryan Lowe that he can't get promoted playing 3-5-2 and last season was all in his imagination and whilst you are at it tell Danny Cowley you can't win league 2 playing 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1. Also go tell Paul Tisdale he can't use 3-5-2, 3-4-3 and 4-3-3 to get promoted then you can complete your journey by telling Micky Mellon that he won't get promoted using 4-1-4-1.

At some point you have to realise football has moved on and very few teams play 4-4-2 week in week out even in league 2.

 

I was talking to Charlie Rackstraw and Tom Hallett about this last season , and they both said you could never afford to miss a game with a slight strain in those days as you missed out on your £2 win bonus. They were on about £15 to £20 per week in those days. I used to keep scrap books and there's an article from Stafford Heginbotham saying that 16 players is all we will be having this season, and only if someone goes will anyone else be coming in. Different world to today when we have about 30 players on the books.

 

Scannell hasn't had a great deal of football in the last 6 to 8 months, perhaps GB is just working him in slowly and protecting him to ensure he's fit for next week?

 

I've seen it more than a few times mate. One of my 10 favourite games.

It's hardly the fault of the club if a few idiots are behaving like kn*bs about it.
As for training somewhere else, that was the point I was making - if Robinson genuinely believed there was a chance he was going to be back in contention, he would be going all out to get himself fit but instead, he is choosing to go on holiday at the time every other professional football player is preparing for the forthcoming season.
Every case is different Fordy, I'm sure the club will have taken legal advice about what they can and can't do and as I said, I think they are handling the situation exactly as they should be doing.

 

Bowyer in T&A says looking to play as many as possible close to Cambridge team. Thinking of going to this one. Train from Halifax, Wetherspoons in Rochdale, pay on gate, a tenner....

 

Yes, that performance at Rochdale was fantastic to watch. It could have been 8-0, we were so dominant. The high press was working so well at that stage. Absolute madness that Hopkin abandoned it.

 

Sorry, but I disagree. Any other friendly and I’d agree fitness is priority, but 7 days until KO, the performance matters more. The players should be match-fit by now so it’s all about how the are performing, which combinations work best and which formation suits the players we have.

I expect a good, strong performance and this will give us an idea of where we are. The result isn’t as important, but the performance is.

 

0-0 then. Penalties don't count apparently.

Left full back, Right full back.
Left half, Center half, Right half.
Left wing, Left inside forward, Center forward, Right inside forward, Right wing,
and they didn't need their names on the back of their shirts, you could name the same starting 11 every game unless there were injuries .

How can anyone sing about him when they don't know what's happening.

Been nearly a year.

However, Bradford City not giving him a squad number without explaining why is always going to create issues don't you think @wetherbywhaler .. maybe, time a statement goes out.

 

Are you having a wind up, it was a friendly the fans saw 45 minutes of football (if it can be called that on the drench pitch) it was £10 for adults and concessions for others and your seriously asking for a refund.
I thought most fans Bradford City who attended would be delighted their admission fee went to the foundation hence my .
I personally think it's a great gesture by Rochdale, although I would think Bradford City may have had a say into it as they would probably take expenses out of the gate money.
