I'd imagine there'll be some out the door to fund this. If Watt stays that's a decent midfield with options. Excellent signing, can't wait to see what Hughes can put together with this squad. It's been a long time since VP was rocking. Who wouldn't want to be a part of the revolution (hopefully). Well done to all involved.

Chapman and Smallwood both have better CVs than Vernam and Watt, that is undeniable. Far better pedigrees. Plain to see Walker is an upgrade on Cooke. And jury is out on Platt and Critchlow....but you never rated Paudie anyway.

Young and Harratt were well thought of by fans at their former clubs. Are you really suggesting they are any worse Lavery and Robinson?

 

Hang your head in shame Smallwood, that was absolutely infuriating to watch you today. Strolling about, playing hospital balls back to defenders, lazy challenges, emotionless and clearly don’t give a toss. Worst captain I’ve seen my 17 years supporting city. Please never play for us again.

 

In signings, this is a step up. Pretty sure the whole squad just got that bit better. We’ve been crying out for this kind of signing for nearly 10 years and he’s here now just in time to set the standard for preseason. This is a very impressive statement.

 

Fantastic signing, please please let young Elliott re-sign now, with Smallwood next to him, we would have the best midfield pairing outside the championship.

If I was Watt seeing this signing I would be having second thoughts trying to secure a move to a higher side who might not suit his style. This smells of consecutive promotions. Yum yum

 

I am excited. The one position you need to get right on the field is central midfield and preferably a captain/leader. Here we have an experienced player at a high level that we have had to compete with other clubs. These type of players are like gold dust. They are the engine of the team. Of course I am excited about the young talent we have brought it, but for me this is our key signature player.

He will be able to help the young players both in training and on the pitch.

 

I’m happy that we appear to have a plan.
I assume the majority of the squad are now in place, in time for pre-season to start. We’ve talked before about having a good off-season as being key.
Commercial appear to be doing well.
Youth set-up is in a good place.
First team appear to be moving in the right direction.

From a Hull fan in the T&A......

Smallwood was excellent from us. He joined us at a time when I had witnessed our worst relegation ever (and I've seen some horrific ones) and he led the side to the L1 title and safety in the Championship (in a team under embargo and cut to the bone). It is only that we have been fortunate enough to have been taken-over and we're getting a new midfield. He's a leader on and off the pitch, thick and thin, model pro. Way too good for L2. Standby for promotion Bantams. Good luck Richie and thanks for everything.

Don’t mean to sound like a broken record but this is on a par with getting Doyle and Davies to drop to L2 and is a great signing given his Championship exp!

Anyhow, enough of me and our 'owner'... Let's concentrate on the matter in hand

 

Songo'o just doesn't fit with the type of player MH clearly likes. Comfortable on the ball.

Last season he was very good at blocking and heading but when he had the ball at his feet or was doing a clearance deary me-no one knew where the ball was going. Add in a couple of air shots with his "wrong" foot and he ends up being a squad player at best next season.
