That’s what I was just thinking imagine it’ll be a poor 1 year deal as a versatile option off the bench, he’ll be one that probably ways up his options the longest.

 

Hendrie is the only RB we have on the books... FCD isn't a right back and Threlkeld isn't a footballer

 

You would think these three would be higher earners and would free up quite a bit of budget -

 

Surprised at Sutton but he’s a good squad player to have though. Expect it’s a 1 year deal so he may look elsewhere for added security. Cooke is a shame he’s defiantly up there with the better players in the division but think it will do him and us good to move on!

Imagine, those who are offered contracts along with those under contract...

That would be a squad of 20. The same squad that had bottom half last season. A number with continual injury issues, such as Angol.
Hughes is showing capability but he is no messiah.

Its the want to retain the types of Sutton and Hendrie, that is a red flag. We have history at this level under Rupp. I hope we are not seeing the same old again.

I don't disagree but I suppose it depends on the terms offered, and if any of the contracted players are leaving. Hendrie and Sutton are useful squad players. If they're good characters, that helps and it helps that they've already had experience of what Hughes wants. No real issues from me with any of the calls made.

I'd expect some of the contracted players to be moved on and I think we'll lose some or all of Paudie, Watt and Vernam

 

Just watch, he'll be the first to sign up now and the likes of POC, Vernam and Watt will all bugger off!

Nobody is denying Threlkeld was poor. But the lad is/was clearly suffering from mental health issues. Some might say "so what" but I think the club should stand by and support him. We have seen what happens to some players who dont get support.

 

He was “ good” because a lot of the mixed dross around him made him “ look good”. He doesn’t fit under MH in all honesty. I said recently the writing has been on the wall a fair while.

Are you sure? I know he's been through mental health challenges in the past and is an ally for mental health charities now but I haven't seen any mention of it this season.

Sorry but all I saw was someone who was a poor right back or someone playing in the wrong position. Just basics of tracking other players and actually running back to defend were lacking.

He had them before joining us and has been an advocate of a mental health charity, but nowhere has it been reported that he has suffered with mental health problems whilst at this club and it is dangerous to assume he is having them now I’ve seen no evidence of it.
