We certainly do absolutely, I'm not suggesting we keep him as a starter but the budget no doubt wont stretch to having high end L2 players sat on the bench, so if his wages are around that of a back up then I'd be more than happy for him to be around another season and fulfill that role, there's also the outside chance of him improving under better guidance from MH.

He has me too, yes he's far from a great footballer but as you say his heart is there and gives his all, and who knows with better standard of player around him he may be useful as he keeps it simple and concentrates on what he's good at. Being able to play couple different positions could also be invaluable next season. On another note I do think if he wasn't signed by DA he wouldn't get half as much flack on here.

Watt is by far the best player in that side, always available for a pass, his vision is far above his team mates, granted, his passes arnt always successful but we need to be building a team around him. He would quite easily be comfortable in the championship

Why not? We can loan him again and retain him as a part of our squad, the same with bass. Bit of a weird comment, but I’m pretty sure you knew what I meant.

I don’t believe he’s good enough for a side chasing promotion. The only thing he offers is energy. It’s an attribute that is easily replaceable with somebody with more footballing ability. All about opinions of course.

Because the ones I listed are good enough to get us promoted and play in a division higher in my opinion.

Agree. Sutton adds loads of energy to midfield but technically seemed weaker than most of our midfield. With that energy I could see him as a wing back but think his crossing would not be enough of a threat / accurate enough. I thought he was a right back at Scunny too.
I thought Gilleard was MOTM today but most of his notable work was shielding / defensive

I agree with all of that with maybe 1 exception. I thought Kelleher was not up to standard based on earlier performances, but I thought he did a decent job when Paudie was suspended. First (and only??) time I have seen him play under Hughes and he seemed much improved on earlier outings.

Listening to post match yesterday I agree with Jamie Raynor’s thoughts on Sutton, which are the same as what I’ve always felt he brings to the squad. Yes his main obvious attribute is his energy. However he brings this decent balance and the ability to run with the ball at pace - something I don’t think he does enough of. He’s comfortable on the ball, can tackle, he battles and is versatile.

I don’t put him as a first name on the team sheet nor someone to build a team around. However I don’t recall many games (starting or as sub) when you can say he’s performed poorly. He’s mostly a solid 6-7 each performance and similar to how I see Hendrie, he doesn’t weaken the team when he’s selected, like how a Threlkheld does perhaps, albeit there should be stronger starting XI option ahead of him unless he dramatically improves, which he’s at an age he can do.

His attributes are poniting towards an attacking right back role.Hr can fill in at midfield but only as a stop to gap, his passing and postional discipline simply not good enough for a permanent role.

I hope we are going to be quite ruthless with the players we offer new deals to, because fannying around waiting for them to make their minds up could be the difference between us landing our first choice replacements (if they decide not to sign), or missing out and being left with 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice again.

Not sure am bothered if Watt leaves, He has work rate and energy and a good vision but his ball control and passing is dreadful, A lot of opposition attacks start with a misplaced pass by Watt who gives possession away to easily

I think Suttons main attribute is his unpredictability and his ability to beat a man. Doesn't always come off but he is always looking to drive forward. He also makes a lot of great runs that are seldom picked up. Maybe not a permanent starter but worth keeping if hes cheap enough

Let's be honest, a few weeks ago there were many of us who couldn't wait to see the back of all the players who are out of contract at the end of the season. Better performances over the last few games has enabled us to see what some of them are capable of on their day, but there remain question marks for me over whether the players everyone is now wanting to stay can maintain that level of consistency over a full season. I trust Hughes judgement on this, and if he wants them to stay and can get them to sign up then fair enough but if they choose to move on then it's no great loss, none of them are irreplaceable.
