Way too many similar steak/grill bars around that part of Leeds though. Could do with a more diverse choice.

Don’t doubt that. But always found the service good and not bad for getting a table just walking in off of the street unlike some

For somewhere a lot less "blingy" try Arts Cafe on Call Lane. Small, friendly, indie, bit Bohemian almost, but always great food and not silly money. My Thai at the Old Steps is great too if like me you sometimes like something a bit less "corporate". Again friendly, great food and good prices

Years since I've been to the Arts Cafe but always used to like it. Good to hear it's still going strong.

Apparently it changed owners a few months ago, but we went just before Christmas and it hasn't really changed. Similar smallish menu but the food was excellent and still pretty cheap for Leeds centre

Not been to Art's in years, might try to revisit this year. Institution, that place.

We're going back to the Moorcock Inn in Sowerby Bridge this weekend, and have got a voucher to use at Prashad too.

Sowerby Bridge a bit far for me unfortunately. Prashad lacks a certain something when I've been.................meat :)

I go for lunch with friends there on occasion. I didn't know it had changed hands, I hope it doesn't change much. It is good value and reliable as it is.

Prashad has moved too far away from its origins for my liking. All a bit trendy and more about the ambience than the food now. Prices have gone up too.

Is that the place that used to be just off Horton Grange Road in Bradford?

I have. Don't want to put you off but I didn't think it was that great. Don't get me wrong the food was ok although if I recall its all served in disposable tubs and trays. I had a bit of a "constructive discussion" with them afterwards. We had ordered something like a set menu selection for 4, but most of the dishes contained just 3 of everything. When I said, very politely, that it would be better if there were 4 of everything in a meal for 4 I was told that 3 was the portion size. They just didn't seem to get it. Please don't let me put you off but that was just my experience from one visit. Thought it was a bit up itself, but certainly it's a buzzy place

TBH I wasn't expecting anything out of the ordinary.
Apparently the craft beers are good.

Yep - I can't go past without nipping in for a Vada Pav: in essence disk of spiced & battered mashed potato in a burger bun. Love it.

Like @ahar964@ahar964 says, 3 bhajis (for example) for a fiver can seem a tad pricey but the freshness & quality stands out in my opinion.

They're big on (pricey) beer but usually have summat from the likes of Ilkley or Saltaire available.

I'm a fan but I don't think i'd base an evening around it, it's more somewhere I like nipping into for an hour for a couple of drinks & good snacky scran.

You prob already know this but the folk behind it are from prashad & the sparrow.

They've certainly modernised since the days in BD7. Drighlington's a pain to get to when we'll both be fancying a drink, too.
