That is indeed a real shame.
I know they've been struggling to get the right staff since they lost the chef that got the rave reviews from Jay Rayner. And Covid hit them hard.

It's always sad when a restaurant is forced to close. We went to the Waterside twice following the recommendations on here and for me it just wasn't quite there. Hard to put a finger on it but I think it fell a little bit between 2 stools, between fine dining and family bistro. I guess the location was more suited to the latter. Still a shame though. Where did the chef move on to?

I'm sure the owner told us that the previous chef had left and they were struggling to find suitable replacements.

I’m reading the Sparrow has closed down. Kirkstall Brewery who own it, deem it no longer viable. As obviously I’m not in Bradford, I can’t say if it’s true or not. Last day was Sunday apparently. Sad news if true. Was the pub which originally revitalised North Parade.

I just read the same on one of the pub Facebook groups.
Never the same since the Brewery took it over

This time last week we were heading up to Sedbergh for a return visit to the Black Bull. Still a proper pub, with a fantastic beer garden (more a small field), and excellent food.

A trip to nearby Booths the next day increased the spend somewhat.

Doesn’t take a lot to stand out in the culinary desert that is Scarborough … Embers is pretty decent.

Went to Denmans in Shelf last night. Undoubtedly aspiring to be like (the excellent) Engine Social in Sowerby Bridge.

An improvement on my first visit pre-Covid; new owners I think.

The menu is vast - not keen on that - but the food was tasty enough, if a little dependent on the deep fat fryer.

The crab lasagne, surely un-deep-fryable, was a winner.

Some way off the inventiveness and slickness of Engine Social, but not a bad local option. The locals seem to love it.

Went to Sakku Samba in Bradford last night. Bradford finally had a classy restaurant.

£50 per head. £10 for cocktails, £6 for a beer. All you can eat but with table ordering and service.

    DJ, dancers and quality meat.

Would highly recommend and it’s classy. Belongs in Leeds but great for Bradford to be up market at last,

Is the £50 an all you can eat deal? Or was that just what you averaged from the al a carte?

It's over 25 years since I was last in Leeds. Do many restaurants have dancers and djs?
The fashion hasn't caught on in Edinburgh.

Not really in Leeds but this is based in Bradford. They had to do something different. The price at £50 per head will only attract the class from the city and around.

I've just looked at the gallery with the dancers. It is definitely different
