He was very unfortunate picking up that bad injury when he did he was never given a proper chance after that.People who have seen a lot of Charlie Wood say what a good player he is going to be but is he going to get a chance in front of the players in front of him with decent contracts.

I'd love to see some of Charlie, and I think forwards have an opportunity that players in other positions don't - score a goal, you'll get another chance.

Not always the case with defenders/midfielders, but even then - so many forwards ahead of Charlie at the moment.

 

I wonder how many of our championship winning under 19s are looking at what's best for them given our track record recently

I do think as fans , naturally it's great when one of our own comes through the ranks, but I think it's time to be realistic.

Any youth coming on the fringes at 18/19 may not actually be all that, if they were then chances are, we'd have flogged them at 15

 

The lad showed a lot of potential a while back and looked like he would make it as a pro but never kicked on and he himself should take responsibility for that. He could still make it but it's going to be from further down the football pyramid and will be a lot harder.

 

Apparently someone does know but he isn't saying, mum's the word Fawlty!

 

And BPA are "part time". Does he have another job ?

 

Good luck to the lad. Regardless of what he did or didn't do I hope he builds a successful career out of the game.
For every 1 player who steps up from the youth set up to become a regular first teamer, there's probably two dozen others who don't make the cut.
That's the nature of football.

 

Sensible move all round. He was well down the pecking order. Clearly has potential and decent technique, but needs to play regularly and toughen up a bit physically. If it works, we have the sell on fee baked in.

Maybe it’s a life balance decision? Doesn’t want to move up to Scotland either. Sometimes family needs to be put first. Pure speculation of course, but someone did sort of ignite the rumour mill a few posts ago. I’m just adding to it

 

It's only a one year contract though so he will need to be attracting interest in January for us to benefit. Even then, with only 6 months left on his contract, I doubt it would be a money spinner for us.

 

Transfer fees for players from leagues like National league north are minimal,and even from the league above ,they are not common,so dont expect to make much more than the cost of a couple of ice creams from this deal.Also,dont read too much into the fact that its only a season long contract.One year contracts are very common in non league football.

 

Have you had a Mr Whippy recently the ice cream van stops outside our house the granddaughter went out to get 3 X 99s and got 50p change out of a £5, but it did have the full works hundreds and thousands, nuts and strawberry sauce on, last year they were £1 each .

So Reece is worth a few 99s, looks like the Stan's have paid over the odds.
