if you think ratings:

*Are childish.
*Are just as confrontational as the comment equivalent
*Aren't necessary.

Then turn yours off. An easy solution to your problems.

Other posters see the value in them.

Who says I’m “more than happy” to abuse others? I rarely fall into the trap of abusing other posters these days but admit that sometimes I will post what some deem unacceptable.

Thing is, if I’m talking face to face with someone and they spout shite, I will tell them to stop ‘being a dick’. What would you do, whip out your crayons and draw me a turd????

 

Ali, been through this so many times. As Trevor so succinctly wrote, why do we need to change something that isn’t broken? What value do childish emojis give? Genuine question.

It’s not about whether I don’t want them or not. There was a question asked as to whether we wanted them or not. I’m providing my point of view and respect others will disagree. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t debate it

 

What does hats off mean anyway, never did get that? It used to be a greeting like saying good morning.

 

My post has just as much credibility as yours.

 

I once said to Ed, hats off for providing these ratings. Took off from there.

 

So the rest can either take it or leave it so will be just as happy if you introduce them.

 

We've got through the last 14 months or so without them.

I cant speak for others, but personally speaking:

*Sometimes, I'm simply not in the mood for a debate. I don't want to go back and forth and I really can't be arsed typing up anything insightful. On an opinion based platform, a rating system would still allow me to express myself when I otherwise wouldn't have done so.

*There's an awful lot of tripe posted on here. As things stand, I don't have a lot of choice but to read this tripe, which can often result in a poor forum experience. sometimes I might want to challenge such posts but on other occasions I just want to read interesting well thought out viewpoints. A rating system would indicate which posts may be worth reading and it goes some way towards reducing the amount of drivel I have to shift through.

*They are just interesting. If someone posts something controversial, i want to see the general consensus on it. Perhaps X player is more popular than I thought?

*It's just a good, convenient way of acknowledging a particular post.

The reasons don't matter though. The point is that many feel that they enhance the forum and those that dont aren't forced to use them.

Not according to king karl " just over 50 people out of a 1250 membership".

 

Only 21 people out of 1250 are against the introduction of them according to the vote so surely it should happen?
